The compositions may be in the form of a solution, a gel, a cream, a jelly, a powder, a paste, a lotion, soap and a cleaner.
Reduction of tooth staining derived from cationic antibacterials
Disclosed are oral care compositions having reduced tooth staining propensity and comprising in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, a cationic antimicrobial agent and an anti-stain agent comprising one or more materials from each of at least two of the following chemical groups: Group 1. anionic agents, Group 2. aldehydes, ketones, and other reactive carbonyl compounds and Group 3. nonionic ethoxylated surfactants. Examples of cationic antimicrobial agent include quaternary ammonium compounds such as cetylpyridinium chloride, cetyl pyridinium fluoride, tetradecylpyridinium chloride, N-tetradecyl-4-ethyl pyridinium chloride and domiphen bromide; chlorhexidine; and metal ion sources to supply metal ions such as stannous, zinc or copper.
TOPICAL SKIN PRODUCT HAVING RETENTION PROPERTY
A topical skin product having a retention property is provided. The topical skin product comprises a retention ingredient. A suitable retention ingredient is an oxazoline homopolymer or an extended or a modified polymer based on an oxazoline homopolymer. The topical skin product may be a hand sanitizer having a gel-based hand sanitization formulation.
CHG-COMPATIBLE COMPOSITION AND METHOD
A composition for soothing irritation that does not diminish the efficacy of a topical antiseptic is disclosed. The composition comprises an emollient, an emulsifier, and a film-forming agent. Also, a method of soothing irritation without diminishing the efficacy of a topical antiseptic product comprises the steps of providing the topical antiseptic product comprising a cationic antiseptic agent, providing the composition, applying the topical antiseptic product to a target area on skin of a patient to coat the target area with the cationic antiseptic agent, and applying the composition to the coated target area.
Methods of treatment using topical copper ion formulations
Provided herein are topical formulations containing copper ions and methods of treating inflammatory, microbial, and arthritic conditions in various areas of the body using such formulations. Methods of treating osteoarthritis using topical copper ion treatments are provided. Methods of treating and preventing microbial infections using copper ion treatments are further provided, including methods of preventing biofilm. A topical treatment in its basic form comprises a biocompatible copper ion solution or suspension obtained by leaching of the copper ions from copper metal. The copper ion solution or suspension is combined with various carriers to form the copper ion treatment including creams, gels, lotions, foams, pastes, tampons, solutions, suppositories, body wipes, wound dressings, skin patches, and suture material. Methods of making the copper ion solution or suspension from solid copper metal in a biocompatible solution are also provided.
