A method of imparting a fragrance or flavor to a consumer product by adding to the consumer product a fragrance or flavor composition containing at least one isomeric alkadienal or at least one isomeric alkadienenitrile in an amount effective to impart a fragrance or flavor to the consumer product.

The present invention relates to the use as perfuming ingredient, in particular to confer odor notes of the violet, violet leaves type, of a compound of formula (I), wherein n represents 1 or 2, A represents CH.sub.2 or CO; and R represents a C.sub.1-4 alkyl or alkenyl group or a C.sub.3 cycloalkyl group, or when A is a CH.sub.2 group R may also represent a C.sub.1-3 acyl group. An antimicrobial mixture is disclosed, comprising: (a) a first antimicrobial agent selected from acetophenone derivatives of formula (I)

Suggested is a synergistic antimicrobial mixture comprising a hydroxyacetophenone and one additional antimicrobial agent. The mixture is particular useful for fighting Aspergillus brasiliensis.

Disclosed herein are biodegradable compositions comprising 1,3-propanediol, wherein the 1,3-propanediol in said biodegradable composition has a bio-based carbon content of about 1% to 100%. In addition, it is preferred that the 1,3-propanediol be biologically-derived, and wherein upon biodegradation, the biologically-derived 1,3-propanediol contributes no anthropogenic CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.
