METHOD AND THERAPEUTIC/COSMETIC TOPICAL COMPOSITIONS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ROSACEA AND SKIN ERYTHEMA USING A1-ADRENOCEPTOR AGONISTS
The present invention is directed to the treatment of skin erythema as exhibited in rosacea and other conditions characterized by increased erythema (redness) of the skin. These conditions exhibit dilation of blood vessels due to a cutaneous vascular hyper-reactivity. In particular, the present invention is directed to a novel composition and method for the treatment of skin erythema using .sub.1-adrenergic receptor (.sub.1-adrenoceptor) agonists incorporated into cosmetic, pharmacological or dermatological compositions for topical application to the skin.
Formulations and methods for treating dermatological disorders and diseases
The present invention provides compositions and methods for treating a dermatological disorder or disease.
Enhanced Moisturizing Lotion Compositions
A moisturizing lotion composition includes water. In addition, the moisturizing lotion composition includes propylene glycol having a concentration of 21.0 to 37.5 wt % of the moisturizing lotion composition. Further, the moisturizing lotion composition includes aloe vera having a concentration of 0.50 to 4.0 wt % of the moisturizing lotion composition. Still further, the moisturizing lotion composition includes vervain extract having a concentration of 0.50 to 4.0 wt % of the moisturizing lotion composition. Moreover, the moisturizing lotion composition includes willow bark extract having a concentration of 0.50 to 0.20 wt % of the moisturizing lotion composition. The moisturizing lotion composition also includes chamomilla recutita extract having a concentration of 0.05 to 0.40 wt % of the moisturizing lotion composition.
COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING DENDROBIUM NOBILE AND METHODS OF USING SAME
Compositions, packaging systems and methods for protecting human skin and/or hair against air pollution-induced damage including Dendrobium, e.g., Dendrobium nobile are described.
Multi-purpose cosmetic compositions
A method for treating the skin of a subject in need thereof is disclosed. The method includes topically applying to the skin of the subject a cosmetic composition that includes an effective amount of an aqueous, alcoholic, or aqueous-alcoholic extract of Silybum marianum and an aqueous, alcoholic, or aqueous-alcoholic extract of Momordica grosvenori fruit.
COSMETIC COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING QUINONES AND THEIR TOPICAL USE ON SKIN AND HAIR
Described are compositions containing quinones that show activity in enhance DNA repair and/or prevent damage to DNA. The quinones are thymoquinone, lapachol, myrtucommulone C, or mixtures thereof, and can be formulated into cosmetic compositions for topical administration to a subject in need thereof. The cosmetic compositions can also include sunscreens, surfactants, sunless tanning agents, desquamation agents, antiperspirants, colorants, preservatives and mixtures; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier. The compositions should find use in methods for treating the signs of ageing in mammals via topical application to the skin or hair of the mammals.
PEPTIDE CONJUGATES
Methods and compositions related to the selective, specific disruption of multiple ligand-receptor signaling interactions, such as ligand-receptor interactions implicated in disease, are disclosed. These interactions may involve multiple cytokines in a single receptor family or multiple ligand receptor interactions from at least two distinct ligand-receptor families. The compositions may comprise polypeptides having composite sequences that comprise sequence fragments of two or more ligand binding sites. The methods and compositions may involve sequence fragments of two or more ligand binding sites that are arranged to conserve the secondary structure of each of the ligands from which the sequence fragments were taken.
FUNCTIONALIZED POLYMERS
The invention relates to functionalized polymers, a process for producing functionalized polymers and the use of functionalized polymers, especially in the field of personal care.
Skin care product made from camellia sinensis and method of making the same
The subject invention provides a skin care product made from camellia sinensis, which is nontoxic and non-irritating to skin. More specifically, the present invention involves a skin care product containing an alcohol, acetic acid, and extracts of camellia sinensis. This product is effective in treating a number of skin conditions, including but not limited to seborrheic dermatitis, hair loss, athlete's foot, ichthyosis, jock itch, sweat spots, fungal nails, and burns. When applied to burns, it relieves pain and helps to subside blisters; when applied to sunburns, it eases skin itchiness and prevents peeling skin; when applied to the scalp, it helps to stop hair loss and regrows hair. Long-term use of this product will keep skin healthy and will not lead to any drug resistance or harmful side effects.
METHOD FOR AUTOMATICALLY SELECTING AND PROVIDING SUNSCREEN FOR USERS
One variation of a method includes: accessing a skin type of a user; predicting a first set of locations occupied by the user during a first future time interval; based on historical ultraviolet irradiance data and the first future time interval, calculating a first predicted unprotected ultraviolet radiation exposure of the user during the first future time interval; calculating a maximum allowable ultraviolet radiation exposure for periods within the first future time interval based on the skin type of the user; calculating a first minimum sun protection factor predicted to reduce the first predicted unprotected ultraviolet radiation exposure to less than the maximum allowable ultraviolet radiation exposure; selecting a first sunscreen formula characterized by a first sun protection factor greater than the first minimum sun protection factor; and shipping the first volume of the first sunscreen formula to the user prior to the first future time interval.
