Extracts of microalgae and their application

Suggested are new extracts of microalgae selected from the group consisting of (i) Monodus sp. (ii) Thalassiosira sp. (iii) Chaetoceros sp. and/or (iv) Chlorococcum sp.
obtainable by treating said microalgae with a solvent selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1-C.sub.4 aliphatic alcohols, ethyl acetate, water or their mixtures, removing the dissolved extracts from the residues and recovering the pure extracts from the solvent. The extracts show excellent properties particularly in modulating the metabolism of human skin and hair follicles.

FABRIC CARE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING EMULSIONS

Fabric care compositions comprising bi-modal water continuous emulsions are disclosed. In particular, the fabric care compositions comprise a bi-modal water continuous emulsion (E) comprising at least 70 weight percent of: a first dispersed phase containing a hydrophobic oil, wherein the hydrophobic oil is provided as a non-emulsified hydrophobic oil, and a second dispersed phase containing a silicone, wherein the silicone is provided from a water continuous silicone emulsion containing at least one surfactant. The fabric care compositions further comprise at least one fabric care ingredient (F). Optionally, the fabric care ingredient (F) is in an acceptable medium. Preparation methods and uses of the fabric care compositions are also disclosed.

Novel Application for Inhibitors of cAMP Efflux in Body Care

The present invention is directed to previously identified inhibitors of cAMP efflux (ICE) and their use in treating/masking body odor, inhibiting, reducing and/or eliminating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), tanning skin or protecting skin before and/or after exposure to the sun as well as for treating certain skin conditions, in one embodiment, the invention provides a method for inhibiting body odor, a condition that is characterized by an unpleasant odor from the products of the microbial sweat degradation. By inhibiting the efflux of the precursor compounds that are degraded, novel compounds are capable of preventing unwanted odors. Deodorant compositions that employ this new approach for the control of bodily odor are provided, ICE compounds can also be used as components, of cosmetic formulations including tanning and after-sun formulations, formulations for skin conditions as described herein and other cosmetic formulation.
