Articulated Combine Having Rear Module with Seedbed Preparation Mechanism
A rear module, as illustrated with tanks, seed blowers, and transfer pump for fertilizer is mounted on the existing design frame, axle, and steering system; but it is a separate, distinct module. The planting module and the harvesting module must be disconnected from the common front module power unit and switched for planting row crops or harvesting. The harvesting configuration can have an attachment to the header to seed non row crops, such as, a cover crop like rye or canola. Such rear module can be the rear unit of an articulated vehicle, such as a harvester.
Methods of operating an implement in an agricultural field
A method of operating an implement carrying tillage elements in an agricultural field includes traversing the field with the implement while the tillage elements engage soil of the field, detecting a tillage event based on an operating parameter, recording a location of the tillage event with at least one computer, stopping the implement within the field in response to the tillage event, and generating a first representation of the tillage elements engaged with the soil. The first representation is generated with information from at least one sensor. The tillage elements are lifted to disengage the tillage elements from the soil, and a second representation of the tillage elements disengaged from the soil is generated. The implement is backed rearward through the field with the tillage elements disengaged from the soil, and a third representation of a portion of the soil worked by the tillage elements is generated.
DISC MOUNTING ASSEMBLY FOR A VERTICAL TILLAGE IMPLEMENT
In a tillage implement for being towed by an agricultural tractor across ground to be towed and having a main frame supporting a plurality of tillage units thereon in which each tillage unit includes a disc supporting arm mounted on the main frame, disc mounting assemblies support respective tillage discs on the disc supporting arms. Each assembly includes a mounting body forming a socket therein and a shaft partly received within the socket so as to support a tillage disc on a hub rotatable on a portion of the shaft protruding from the mounting body. The shaft includes a tapered shaft section received within a tapered socket section in the socket of the mounting body to securely and releasably mount the shaft relative to the mounting body.
Tillage disc arm drift control
A cap bracket and spacer for connecting a ground engaging tool to a mounting bar of a cultivator is provided. The cap bracket can include a first member having a first side and a second side, and a second member having a first side and a second side. The second member can be joined at the second side to the second side of the first member with a peak formed where the second side of the first member is joined at the second side of the second member and a first extended portion can be provided on a first end of the cap bracket at the peak. The spacer can include a first connection flange, a second connection flange, and a spacer member extending upwards from the first connection flange and the second connection flange to define a contact surface.
