The transition portion includes a plurality of vent hole regions circumferentially spaced around the transition portion about the wheel axis. At least one vent hole region includes a vent hole formed through the transition portion and defining an outer perimeter such that at least two bridging portions extend inwardly from the perimeter which subdivides the vent hole into at least three smaller holes formed through the transition portion at the at least one vent hole region.

The brake assembly includes a plunger, a retainer coupled to the plunger, a brake pad for sliding movement along the retainer, and a brake biasing element disposed between the plunger and the brake pad to urge the brake pad away from the plunger such that movement of the actuator to place the brake assembly in the braked state simultaneously brings the brake pad into engagement with the wheel and slides the brake pad along the retainer to compress the biasing element.

A method for making a bicycle rim, having a rim body with at least one integrated cavity . The cavity is enclosed by a component wall. The rim body extends in a rim plane over 360 transverse to its rotational axis.

The cavity forms a chamber in the rim body. A plurality of component walls have two lateral rim flanks, a radial inner rim base and a radial outer rim well, which limit the chamber. A rim body support structure is formed by a fibre structure. A fibre bundle is attached to a carrier layer and passed reciprocally on the carrier layer to form a basic fibre layer of the fibre structure. The fibre structure is draped in a tool mould. A filling unit is placed in the tool mould so that the filling unit keeps the volume free for the cavity and the cavity is surrounded by the component wall.
