Wheel and tire assembly

A wheel assembly includes a rigid wheel and an airless flexible tire with certain performance characteristics of a pneumatic tire. The rigid wheel includes a central portion and a plurality of circumferentially spaced mounting elements removably attached to a radially outer margin of the central portion. The tire is mounted on the wheel and engages the mounting elements such that portions of the tire not engaging the mounting elements are separated radially from the wheel by a space. The tire is configured such that portions of the tire not engaging the mounting elements flex inwardly toward the wheel when subject to ground engaging pressure, thereby minimizing ground penetration and soil disruption. The tire may include one or more tension elements embedded in the tire to increase the tire's strength and resilience.

An indentation tool includes an installation axis, a radially oriented indentation axis, and a defined reserved space for an indentation site of a cylindrically-shaped structure, as well as a base for installing onto the structure, and an elongate punch for indenting it at its indentation site. The reserved space is spaced apart from the installation axis, and has the indentation axis passing through it. The base extends along the installation axis, and is configured for coaxial installation onto the structure, whereby its indentation site occupies the reserved space. The punch is spaced apart from the installation axis, and is supported by the base for movement along the indentation axis between a home position, in which the punch vacates the reserved space, and an indentation position, in which the punch, leading with an indentation tip, reaches into the reserved space to indent the structure at its indentation site.

HONEYCOMB RIM-TYPE WHEEL
20180319208 · 2018-11-08 ·

The present invention relates to a wheel comprising a hub formed inside the wheel, a rim portion separated outwardly from the hub and forming a circumference on which a tire is fitted, a plurality of spokes connecting the hub and the rim portion, wherein the rim portion is characterized by including an air-tight rim formed in a cylindrical shape, and a protruded grid portion having a plurality of first recesses by being protruded from and equispaced around the circumference of the air-tight rim. In this way, the honeycomb rim-type wheel can be readily manufactured to have lightweight using a single casting job without sacrificing durability thanks to the protruded grid portion on the circumference of the air-tight rim, thereby reducing time and cost for manufacturing by reduced usage of molten metal.

Elastic wheel for railway vehicles

The present invention relates to an elastic wheel for railway vehicles, formed by a tread (1) and a wheel center (2), defining a housing for the insertion of an elastomer that is compressed by a retaining ring (3) which is attached to the wheel center (2) by means of attachment screws (4), and in which the elastomer is formed by a plurality of V-shaped elastic blocks (5), having two oblique walls belonging to the wheel center (2) and to the retaining ring (3), respectively, forming an angle of between 48? and 52? with respect to the axis (R) of the wheel, and in which the oblique walls end in respective inclined sections on which the vertices of the V-shaped elastic blocks (5) are supported, said inclined sections forming an angle of between 2? and 10? with respect to the axis (R) of the wheel.

Wheel Sensor

A wheel loosening sensor (100; 400; 500; 600; 700) configured to detect loosening of a wheel of a vehicle, the wheel loss sensor comprising: a transmitter; a battery (128), wherein the transmitter and the battery are within a water tight housing (102) that is permanently sealed, and wherein at least two electrical terminals (104, 106) are exposed at an exterior of the housing, the transmitter being configured to receive electrical power from the battery and transmit a signal when the at least two electrical terminals are disconnected; an electrically conductive element (108) biased away from the at least two electrical terminals and configured to electrically connect the two electrical terminals when the bias is overcome.

Elastic wheel for a rail vehicle

A wheel for a rail vehicle has a wheel tire (1) with a ridge (9) formed on the inner circumference of the wheel tire (1), a wheel body (3) with a ring flange (11) formed on the outer circumference and running radially outward, and a clamp ring (5) attached to the wheel body (3) via a fastening means (13), on a side face opposite the ring flange (11). Damping means formed as at least two separate circular ring segments (7) extend between the clamp ring (5) and the circumferential ridge and between the circumferential ridge (9) of the wheel tire (1) and the ring flange in the circumferential direction of the wheel. On at least one side, the circular ring segments (7) have at least two centering cams (19) meshing into corresponding recesses (21). The circular segments (7) have an elastomer core enclosed by metal sheet segments (17).

LOW WEIGHT FLANGED INNER RING OF A WHEEL HUB UNIT

A flanged inner ring of a wheel hub unit includes a flange extending transverse to a central axis of symmetry and having a plurality of fixing holes for attaching a wheel. The flanged inner ring also includes a continuous tubular body projecting axially from the flange, the continuous tubular body having a plurality of polygonal recesses. The polygonal recesses reduce weight of the wheel hub unit and improve water drainage from the wheel hub unit.
