Air barrier material application systems and methods

A method of applying an air barrier material to an inner surface of a tire includes steps of: (a) performing a post-cure inflation of the tire; (b) placing the tire onto a dump gate platform after finishing the post-cure inflation of the tire; and (c) spraying the air barrier material onto the inner surface of the tire while the tire is on the dump gate platform.

Pneumatic tire

In this pneumatic tire, the bead core has a predetermined wire array structure obtained by arranging wire cross-sections of bead wires in a cross-sectional view in a tire meridian direction. The following are defined in the wire array structure: a tangent line that contacts, from the side of a rim fitting face, an innermost layer in the tire radial direction and the wire cross-section on the innermost side and the outermost side in the tire lateral direction; contact points of the tangent line with respect to the wire cross-sections on the innermost side and the outermost side; a middle point of the contact points; and gauges in the tire radial direction from the contact points and middle point to the rim fitting face. In this case, the change rates of the gauges before and after rim assembly each are in the range of 10% to 60%.

A post-cure inflation machine for processing a tire may include a tire holder shaft. The tire holder shaft may include a chuck to secure the tire to the tire holder shaft. A hollow passage may be defined in the tire holder shaft. A spray nozzle may be connected to a spray shaft that is telescopically disposed in the hollow passage of the tire holder shaft. The spray nozzle may extend to spray an air barrier material onto the tire.

A run-flat tire includes side reinforcing rubbers provided along tire width direction inner side surfaces of carcass side portions. A first inner liner is provided along a tire radial direction inner side surface of a carcass central portion and tire width direction inner side surfaces of the side reinforcing rubber. Both end portions of the first inner liner run along a contour in a cross-section along a tire rotational axis direction and are respectively formed further toward a tire radial direction outer side than tire radial direction inner side end portions of the side reinforcing rubber. A second inner liner extends along a surface, which is at a side opposite from the carcass central portion, of the first inner liner. Both end portions of the second inner liner are respectively formed further toward a tire radial direction inner side than the both end portions of the first inner liner, along a contour in a cross-section along the tire rotational axis direction.

A pneumatic tire is proposed. The pneumatic tire may include an inner liner configured to maintain a pressure of air filled inside the pneumatic tire, a sealant layer disposed on an inner peripheral surface of the inner liner, and a sound absorbing material disposed adjacent to the sealant layer. The sealant layer may include a first sealant layer formed by a first sealant string adjacent to at least a portion of an inner peripheral surface of the inner liner. The sealant layer may also include a second sealant layer formed by a second sealant string adjacent to at least a portion of the first sealant layer. The second sealant layer may be equal to or smaller, in width, than the first sealant layer in an axial direction of the pneumatic tire. The sound absorbing material may be smaller in width than the first sealant layer in the axial direction.
