A fire exit system is disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the fire exit system may include a motor mechanically coupled to a window such that the motor, when turned on, causes the window to open, a controller coupled to the motor, and a switch coupled to the controller. When the switch is activated, the controller is configured to turn on the motor to open the window.

The fast-rope frame structure includes a cylindrical pipe contained partially within the tubular housing and operable to rotate within the tubular housing and a cantilever beam structure fixedly connected to the cylindrical pipe and configured to have a fast rope attached thereto and move in response to rotation of the cylindrical pipe within the tubular housing.

Described herein is an assembly and methods of use thereof for controlling or governing the relative speed of motion between the assembly parts via eddy current formation. The assembly and methods also may minimize the number of parts required and may minimize the number of moving parts thereby increasing the mechanical durability of the assembly compared to art designs that may have more moving parts and greater part complexity.

The electronic device includes an accelerometer, a processor or programmable circuit, and a non-transitory program storage medium on which are stored instructions executable by the processor or programmable circuit to perform operations including receiving a measurement from the accelerometer, comparing the measurement to a threshold, detecting that the user of the self-retracting lanyard has fallen based on a result of the comparing, and instructing a wireless transmitter to transmit a wireless signal in response to the detection that the user has fallen.

The present invention extends to a carabiner intended for use as an adjustable anchor or a belay device. In general, implementations include a carabiner that includes a frame defining a hole and a gate. More specifically, implementations include a carabiner having a spine with an elongated slot portion having a first slot wall and a second slot wall that define a hole through the spine of the frame. Additionally, some implementations include a carabiner kit with a first carabiner having an elongated slot portion on the spine, a second carabiner, a pinching mechanism formed by linking the first and second carabiners together, and a rope that goes through the elongated slot portion, around the second carabiner, and back out the elongated slot portion of the first carabiner to enable the pinching mechanism to selectively pinch the rope for use as an adjustable anchor or a belay device.
