CHAR Fire Fighting, Climbing and Demolition Hook
20210023404 · 2021-01-28 ·

The CHAR (Climb, Hook And Rip) is a multipurpose tool used by interior structural firefighters to accomplish common essential tasks such as pulling down ceilings, and breaching walls. In addition, it facilitates a quick advancement into the attic of a structure to extinguish fire extension. The innovation is that the CHAR's unique head secures the tool to dimensional 2 lumber, common to wood framed dwelling structures. The head allows an interior firefighter to hook floor and ceiling joists and climb the tool itself to reach another level of the structure. Most likely the tool is used to rip down the ceiling, hook the ceiling joist and climb up to the attic. In a worst-case scenario such as a firefighter falling through the floor, the firefighter may be able to hook a floor joist and climb up the tool to self-rescue.

Multifunctional Safety Tool

Provided herein are personal safety tools and multifunctional safety tool. The tools have a window striker and a tactical whip on each end of a grip or handgrip. Alternatively, the window striker includes a blade to enable a user to cut through a seat belt. The tool is useful for extricating one's self or another from a vehicle and/or for defending one's self or another from an attacker in an emergency.

INFLATABLE AIR WEDGE WITH TOOL CHANNEL AND ASSOCIATED METHOD
20210017006 · 2021-01-21 · ·

An inflatable air wedge has a tool channel that is inserted between a vehicle door and a vehicle body for allowing an operator to effectively unlock the vehicle door without damaging the vehicle (door and/or body and/or weather stripping). The inflatable air wedge includes a selectively inflatable bladder capable of being intercalated between the existing vehicle door and the existing vehicle body, a pneumatic mechanism in operable communication with the bladder for selectively introducing and releasing air from the bladder, and a conduit engaged with the bladder. Advantageously, such a conduit is suitably sized and shaped for guiding an existing unlocking tool therethrough while the bladder is at an inflated state and seated between the vehicle door and the vehicle body. Notably, the conduit is spaced from the pneumatic mechanism and manually distended when the unlocking tool is positioned therein.

Glass shearing apparatus

The present invention is directed to a glass shearing apparatus. One application of the glass shearing apparatus is in vehicles. The apparatus comprises a handle provided at the vehicle door. The handle is coupled with at least one shearing means. The shearing means comprises a housing in which a window pane is supported. The shearing means further comprises a shear bolt that is coupled with the handle via a cable. In case of an emergency, the occupant of the vehicle actuates the handle thereby causing the cable to be tensioned, and the tensioned cable provides a drive to the shearing bolt, wherein the threadable engagement between an opening of the housing and the shearing bolt causes the translation of the shearing bolt within the opening. The translation of the shearing bolt within the opening is such that it eventually contacts the window pane and subsequently shears the window pane.

An emergency escape system is provided. The system comprises a quick release safety pin, a manual release box configured with a metal jacket that contains the pin, and a swing arm attached via a rod to a locking mechanism, the swing arm held immobile by the pin. Upon release of the pin, the arm is configured to move in a horizontal direction and cause the rod to pull and release the locking mechanism from an engaged position. The locking mechanism, when in engaged position, securely maintains at least one of a window, a door, and a panel. The safety pin, the metal jacket, and the swing arm are positioned on an outward facing surface of the manual release box. A load spring surrounding the rod is manipulated by action of the swing arm and causes release of the locking mechanism.

Glass break apparatus

A hydraulic actuator includes a switching part that is provided with an oil passage for sending pressurized oil generated by a hydraulic pump to a tool and returning return oil from the tool to the hydraulic pump. The switching part switches a route of at least one of the pressurized oil and the return oil. The switching part includes an operating portion (for example, an operation knob) and an axis portion (for example, a spool) that advances or retreats when the operating portion is turned. When the operating portion is turned, the axis portion advances or retreats in a direction orthogonal to a direction of turning the operating portion, whereby the route of the oil passage is switched.
