An opening provided in the cover front portion enables emergency oxygen to force smoke present under the cover to be expelled by positive air pressure through a space below the waist. The dome-like cover is overlaid from above the top of the head to at least the waist of the user and connected to a source of oxygen. The device is reversible so that it can also be used as a stretcher. The materials used enable use as a thermal blanket. The device can be provided compactly folded in a bag that can provide lumbar support thereby ensuring that miners will always carry the device with them. A step of vacuum sealing for a predetermined amount of time ensures malleability of the compact device for enhanced lumbar support and device longevity.

This application discloses a novel portable and lightweight wearable respirator. The respirator uses a face mask connected to a wearable device through two air tubes. The wearable device has an air inlet assembly to pull in air from environment, an exhaust assembly, and an oxygen tank with a regulator. The regulator receives oxygen from the oxygen tank and injects it into the air inlet assembly to be mixed with a pulled in air and delivered to the face mask. The regulator uses a sensor to measure the oxygen pressure within the regulator and an airbag or an expandable polymer pad to maintain the pressure and amount of oxygen exiting the regulator. The airbag is inflated or deflated automatically or manually, and the expandable polymer pad is increased in size by a voltage applied to it.

There is disclosed a fluid adapter for a breathable gas delivery device, such as a facemask, for delivering breathable gas to a user. The fluid adapter comprises an adapter body defining an adapter chamber; a pressurized gas inlet port in fluid communication with the adapter chamber and arranged to be fluidically coupled to a source of pressurized breathable gas and an ambient air inlet port arranged to provide fluid communication between the adapter chamber and ambient air outside of the fluid adapter. The adapter also comprises an adapter outlet port in fluid communication with the adapter chamber and arranged to be fluidically coupled to a delivery device gas inlet port of the breathable gas delivery device; and an adapter connector arranged to connect the fluid adapter to the breathable gas delivery device such that the adapter outlet port is fluidically coupled to the delivery device gas inlet port.

Respiratory protection device positive pressure seal check methods and devices

There is provided a respiratory protection device comprising a mask body defining a breathable air zone for a wearer and having a front cover; an exhale valve in fluid communication with the breathable air zone; and a seal check mechanism disposed in the front cover, where the seal check mechanism comprises a button associated with a flap such that, when actuated, the flap biases the exhale valve in a closed position. There is provided in some embodiments a plane of the button intersecting with a plane of the exhale valve. There is also provided in some embodiments the button and the plunger being a monolithic part.
