WEARABLE, MASKLESS RESPIRATORY ISOLATION DEVICE
20220080227 · 2022-03-17 · ·

A wearable respiratory isolation system is configured as an open collar to be worn loosely around the neck of the user, with an articulating arm positioning a mouthpiece in front of the mouth and nasal region of the user. The system provides filtered and sterilized air through a inhalation vent on the mouthpiece which creates a curtain of sterilized air in front of the users face, which protects the users face from air bourne pathogens provides sterile air for the user to inhale. Exhaled air is extracted through an exhalation vent on the mouthpiece, is decontaminated and exhausted to the rear of the user. A modified, background oriented Schlieren imaging technique is used to determine whether the user is inhaling or exhaling, and this information is used to control the flow of sterilized air and the capture of exhaled gases.

A filtering facepiece respirator is provided. The filtering facepiece respirator includes a facemask adapted to fit over the nose and mouth of a wearer, where the facemask comprises a mask body containing a filtering structure. A harness is coupled to the mask body for securing the facemask on the face of the wearer, and a mechanical valve is coupled to a portion of the mask body proximate the wearer's mouth. The valve may be adjusted between a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation, where in the first mode of operation is permitted to flow through the valve on exhalation but not on inhalation and in the second mode of operation air is obstructed from flowing through the valve on exhalation and inhalation. There is an optional third mode of operation where air is permitted to flow through the valve on inhalation and exhalation.

RADIOFREQUENCY ENABLED FILTERING FACEPIECE RESPIRATOR

A radiofrequency enabled filtering facepiece respirator is provided. The filtering facepiece respirator includes a facemask adapted to fit over the nose and mouth of a wearer, where the facemask comprising a mask body containing a filtering structure. A harness is coupled to the mask body for securing the facemask on the face of the wearer. A mechanical valve is coupled to a portion of the mask body proximate the wearer's mouth, where the valve is adjustable between a first mode of operation and a second mode of operation. In the first mode of operation, air is permitted to flow through the valve on exhalation but not on inhalation. In the second mode of operation, air is obstructed from flowing through the valve on exhalation and inhalation

FIREFIGHTER IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
20230390592 · 2023-12-07 ·

A firefighter identification system for use with a firefighter's cylindrical air bottle includes a C-shaped metal band to be slipped or snapped onto the cylindrical air bottle and having an outer surface. Removable labels are placed on the C-shaped metal band. The removable labels can comprise flexible adhesive-backed labels or flexible magnetic labels. The removable labels are a combination of photoluminescent with reflective. The C-shaped metal band comprises a spring steel band and has flared ends to help ease the metal band over a cylindrical oxygen bottle.

Biometric and environmental monitoring and control system

A wearable device for comprehensive bio-monitoring of physiologic metrics to determine metabolic, pulmonary and cardiac function and oxygen saturation measurements from breathing mask apparatuses. The device non-invasively monitors the physiologic profile of the subject, and is capable of detecting physiologic changes, predicting onset of symptoms, and alerting the wearer or another person or system. In some embodiments, the device comprises both a wearable sensor suite and a portable gas composition and flow analysis system. In preferred embodiments, it comprises a miniaturized non-invasive sensor suite for detecting physiologic changes to detect dangerous breathing or other health conditions. The acquired physiologic profile is used to generate alarms or warnings based on detectable physiological changes, to adjust gas delivery to the subject, alter mission profiles, or to transfer control of the craft or other duties away from a debilitated subject. The device is compact, portable, vehicle independent and non-encumbering to the subject.

ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR POWERED AIR-PURIFYING RESPIRATORS

This disclosure describes electrical control and power supply systems for powered air-purifying respirators (PAPRs). An exemplary electrical control system for a PAPR may be adapted to control the supply of power between a battery and a blower motor of a filtration unit of the PAPR. The electrical control system may include a plurality of integrated circuits that are capable of meeting minimum operating times while balancing power usage of various “off-the-shelf” components of the filtration unit.

20210331006 · 2021-10-28 ·

A portable air purifier device includes a fan, air purification system, air quality sensor module, air crossflow limiter and a head mount. The air purifier is mounted in the forehead/head area without blocking the user's nose, mouth or face area, making it easy to breathe. The air purification system consists of one or more Electrostatic Precipitators connected together, in series to achieve higher level of air purification efficiency or in parallel to achieve higher output air flow rate. The crossflow limiter blocks dirty air from the outside from displacing the cleansed air supplied by the device. The air quality sensor module automatically throttles the air purification up/down based on the air pollution level surrounding the user. The head mount is used to easily mount the air purifier device either directly onto the user's head or on top of any head-wear such as a helmet or a hat.
