Wheel valve assembly with vent to atmosphere and the tire inflation system made therewith
A tire inflation system wheel valve assembly is provided. The wheel valve assembly may include a body portion coupled with a cover portion. A diaphragm may be disposed between the body portion and the cover portion. The diaphragm and the body portion define a control cavity; and the diaphragm and the cover portion define a cover cavity. At least one control port is in fluid communication with the control cavity. In addition, a tire port is in selective fluid communication with the control cavity. Further, the cover portion defines an aperture in fluid communication with the atmosphere and the cover cavity.
Wheel-Mounted Air Compression Apparatus
A wheel-mounted air compression apparatus for maintaining a predetermined inflation pressure of a tire mounted on a wheel of a vehicle and the tire having an inflation port includes a housing defining an air compression chamber and has an air compressor device positioned therein. The apparatus includes a plurality of support legs spaced apart from one another. Each support leg is attached to the housing and extends away therefrom and may include a pair of sleeves that are length-adjustable for mounting to wheels of various sizes. A pressure sensor is situated in the housing and operably connected to the air compressor and to a nozzle for determining a current pressure of air within the tire. A controller or other electronics cause the air compressor to pump air into a tire if the air pressure therein is detected as declining below a predetermined amount.
COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY COMPRISING A BEADED CYLINDRICAL CAM
The invention relates to a compressor assembly for supplying pressure medium to a tire cavity of a vehicle wheel that can be mounted on a wheel hub which can be mounted on a wheel carrier so as to be rotatable about an axis of rotation. The compressor assembly includes a wheel mount-side transmission component or the hub-side transmission component, which includes a cylindrical cam.
Rotary joint air collector ring and the tire inflation system made therewith
An assembly for a tire inflation system including a spindle having a fluid conduit. The spindle is coupled with a rotary joint spindle, and the rotary joint spindle includes a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the spindle fluid conduit. A fluid collector ring is located about the rotary joint spindle such that the fluid collector ring may rotate. The fluid collector ring is also in fluid communication with the rotary joint spindle fluid conduit.
SYSTEM FOR INFLATING – DEFLATING A TYRE
The present invention relates to an inflation-deflation system comprising a reserve of air (3) and a valve (4) carried on board the wheel, the air being confined to the reserve (3) under pressure higher than that of the tyre (2), the valve (4) is in communication with the reserve (3) and the tyre (2) and comprises control means able to adopt: a rest position in which they ensure stable and hermetic communication between the tyre (2) and the valve (4); an inflation position in which they provide communication between the tyre (2) and the reserve (3), by being moved by air injected by means of an inflation electrically operated valve (8) connected to the reserve (3); a deflation position in which they provide communication between the tyre (2) and the external air, by being moved by air injected by a deflation electrically operated valve (10) connected to the reserve (3).
Wheel rim accessory and method for assembling thereof
A wheel rim accessory assemblable to a wheel of a vehicle, including: (a) a casing having an outlet adapted to be in fluid communication with the internal volume of the wheel, the casing being assemblable to the wheel rim of the wheel; (b) a filler substance disposed within the casing; and (c) a valve mechanism operationally coupled with the outlet, the valve mechanism controlling a flow of the filler substance from the casing to the internal volume of the wheel such that when a pressure level in the internal volume of the wheel is below a first predefined level, the valve mechanism allows the filler substance to flow into the internal volume until the pressure level reaches a second predefined level, wherein the second predefined level is equal to, or greater than, the first predefined level.
Device for maintaining and changing the pressure in tires
A device for maintaining and changing the pressure in a is provided whereby the inner pressure space of the tire is connected through a pump to a pressure accumulator which, at its input and/or output into the inner pressure space of the tire, is fitted with at least one pressure control element. The pump can be a peristaltic pump in the shape of a deformable hose placed on the perimeter of the tire, fitted with an air inlet and an air outlet, while the air inlet and the air outlet are positioned on the perimeter of the tire distant from each other by a preset length, dependent on the deformation of the tire.
WHEEL END ASSEMBLY WITH EXTERNAL ROTARY JOINT AND ROTARY JOINT VENTING MECHANISM
A wheel end assembly for a tire pressure management system including an axle having an axle end portion and a rotary joint assembly disposed outboard of the axle end portion. The rotary joint has a rotary hub, a non-rotating tube spindle at least partially disposed within the rotary hub, the tube spindle having a tube spindle hollow central chamber, an air seal provided between the rotary hub and the tube spindle, and a bearing assembly provided between the rotary hub and the tube spindle. The bearing assembly is positioned outboard of the air seal.
SYSTEM FOR TIRE INFLATION
A system for tire inflation including a drive mechanism defining a rotational axis, including an eccentric mass that offsets a center of mass of the drive mechanism from the rotational axis along a radial vector; a pump arranged radially distal the rotational axis of the drive mechanism, including a chamber defining a chamber lumen, and a reciprocating element arranged at least partially within the chamber lumen and translatable along a pump axis; a drive coupler coupled between the drive mechanism at a first position and the reciprocating element at a second position fixed to the reciprocating element; a torque regulation mechanism; and a controller, communicatively coupled to the torque regulation mechanism; wherein the system is operable between at least a first mode and a second mode by the torque regulation mechanism in cooperation with the controller.
