The present invention relates to novel, handheld devices for delivering breathable gas. In particular, the present invention relates to novel, handheld devices for delivering lifesaving oxygen to a user when during an emergency such a in a smoke-filled room during a fire, underwater during an automobile accident, a toxic chemical spill and the like.

A portable oxygen-generating breathing apparatus comprising a user interface configured to receive an exhalation air stream from and supply a breathable inhalation air stream to a user, a reaction chamber configured to house a reaction composition that reacts with the exhalation air stream in order to convert the exhalation air stream into the breathable inhalation air stream, an inflatable member configured to receive the breathable inhalation air stream from the reaction chamber, and an interface junction disposed between the user interface and the reaction chamber in a flow direction of the exhalation air stream and between the inflatable member and the user interface in a flow direction of the breathable inhalation air stream, the interface junction having an exhale valve to allow the flow of the exhalation air stream and an inhale valve to allow the flow of the breathable inhalation air stream one-directionally.

A medical joint and a check valve module thereof are used in a connection tube having a communicating opening. The check valve module includes a first membrane and a second membrane. The first membrane is assembled to the communicating opening to seal the same. The first membrane includes a first slit. The first membrane and the second membrane are disposed overlappingly. The second membrane includes a second slit. Accordingly, it facilitates inserting a detector into the connection tube to detect gas pressure, MDI, gas, temperature, or inserting a suction tube to remove sputum, and prevents the gas inside the connection tube from leaking out from an intersection of a first slit and a second slit, thereby achieving handiness and a gas-leak-proof effect of the medical joint and the check valve module.

A facemask assembly can include airflow vents that can be configured to direct inward airflow to strike an interior air filter. In some embodiments airflow strikes the air filter at an oblique angle. In some embodiments, the filter insert assembly is pleated. In some embodiments, the air filter contains biocidal elements. Some internal filter designs enhance the capture of exhaled moisture which activates silver ions in the filter material creating a biocidal environment. Some facemasks have a filter permanently sealed internally with a filter material than can withstand boiling and autoclaving temperatures so the entire mask systemwithout disassemblybecome sterilisable. Some facemasks have snap-in zones that can accommodate a wide variety of strap(s), and can accommodate a single, continuous band. This band can be tension adjusted by adding twists and then being snapped back into the snap-in zones.

The air curtain ejection and air transmission device ejects air through an upper air curtain outlet groove, a lower air curtain air outlet groove and two breathing air transmission holes to form an air curtain isolation layer to block surrounding unclean air, clean air is ejected from the two breathing air transmission holes. A long-time wearing mode is provided when a portable external air filter is included.

A personal breathing apparatus includes a housing having an exhaust port, at least one filter-port, and a mouth-port connecting to a mouthpiece which is held inside the user's mouth while worn. A mouthguard on the mouthpiece is claspable by the user's teeth. By design, the personal breathing apparatus is balancable at the mouthpiece, such that the portion of the apparatus outside of the user's mouth is no heavier than the portion inside the user's mouth. In this way, the apparatus can be retained only by the clenching action of the user's teeth for long periods of time with no duress to the user. No head strap or other retention fastener is required.
