Respirator device with light exposure detection

A system including a head-mounted device having a face shield; a respirator coupled to or embodied in the head mounted device; a light having a light intensity; a light detector, and a computing device communicatively coupled to the at least one light detector that receive from the light detector data indicting a type and intensity of light, and determine that the light matches a particular type of light and whether it exceeds a threshold, and on the basis of this determination, modifies the intensity of the light.

Personal protection device using monolithic activated carbons

A low pressure drop device for personal protection against toxic industrial chemicals and chemical warfare agents has a flexible polymer hood impermeable to toxic challenge molecules, a neck seal for sealing the hood about the neck, a half mask for connection to a canister and a low pressure drop canister for chemical protection. The canister contains carbon monoliths of 5- 40 mm diameter, length 1-3 cm, open area 30-60%, surface area ≥700 m.sup.2/g optionally activated to >30 wt % weight loss and optionally impregnated with metallic additives and/or triethylene diamine. The monoliths have square channels of size 100-2000 μm and wall thickness 100-2000 μm. It also contains a resiliently flexible closed cell foam with holes slightly smaller than the monoliths so that flow through the canister is through the monoliths.

A magnetic quick connect for a fluid delivery system includes a male coupling member and a female coupling member. The male coupling member defines a first outer fluid communication path and includes a first magnetic material. A first inner member is disposed within the first outer fluid communication path and defines a first inner communication path. The female coupling member defines a second outer fluid communication path and includes a second magnetic material. A second inner member is disposed within the second outer fluid communication path and defines a second inner communication path. The male and female coupling members are detachably held together by an attractive force between the first and second magnetic materials such that the first and second outer communication paths are held in fluid communication, and the first and second inner communication paths are held in fluid communication.

A survival helmet device for use in combination with a survival suit includes a helmet, inhale and exhale control valves, and at least one inflatable air cavity packet secured to the survival suit for selectively controlling the air supply and buoyancy of the survival helmet device and the survival suit.

Protective apparel and support apparatus and method of use

A protective apparel support (100) system is disclosed comprising a support frame configured to rest on the shoulders of a wearer, the support having a first shoulder member (104a), a second shoulder member (104b) and a shield (202) engagement portion. A shield (202) is selectively coupleable to the support and protective apparel (302) is coupled to the shield.

Air filtration device having tuned air distribution system

A filtering device 10 that includes a housing 12 having a plurality of subsections 32, 34, and 36 where each subsection is adapted to receive a filter element 26, 28, and 30. An inlet 18 is disposed at a first location on the housing 12, and an upstream air distribution system is placed in fluid communication with the inlet 18 and with each of the subsections 32, 34, and 36. A downstream air distribution system is located in fluid communication with each subsection 32, 34, and 36, and an outlet 20 in fluid communication with the downstream air distribution system. The upstream and downstream air distribution systems are constructed to cause the same airflow velocity through each subsection. Using such a construction, overall product service life may be increased while minimizing pressure resistance of the total filter.
