Flat-Fold Respirator And Method Of Making Same
One or more embodiments of a respirator and a method of making the respirator are disclosed. The respirator can include a harness (60) including first and second straps (62, 64); a mask body (12) including right and left portions (16, 18) on each side of a centerline (24), where the right and left portions (16, 18) are bounded by a perimeter (24) of the mask body (12); a right tab (30) that extends from a right side perimeter segment (26) of the perimeter (24) of the mask body (12) adjacent the right portion (16); and a left tab (40) that extends from a left side perimeter segment (28) of the perimeter of the mask body (12) adjacent the left portion (18). The first strap (62) of the harness (60) is attached to the right and left tabs (30, 40) at first right and left attachment locations (50, 52), and the second strap (64) is attached to the right and left tabs (30, 40) at second right and left attachment locations (54, 56).
Ear Mounted Cannular Nasal Breathing Filter
An ear mounted cannular nasal breathing filter provides an air mixing chamber to offset the effects of dry air caused by filtration by allowing for an admixture of filtered and pre-conditioned (humidified and heated) air. The air chamber features an internal or centered mixing chamber disposed below a one-way exhaust valve and above a filtering system. The air mixing chamber retains a predefined volume or percentage of exhausted breath that is mixed with a predefined volume or percentage of filtered air, with the filtered air originating as ambient air. An air chamber assembly is retained and supported upon a user by an ear mount system comprising a) a flexible wire that conforms to the ear join, or b) an upper arm in telescopic connection with a lower arm, with the two arms in dynamic tension by use of an internal elastic member, providing a tensioned fit to the ear join.
Facial mask with adhesive-backed filters in separate nasal portion and oral portion
A two-part mask, having a nasal portion and an oral portion, can include adhesive to secure the nasal portion to the wearer's face. The adhesive might surround the nose to form a leakproof seal. An oral portion covering the wearer's mouth might include adhesive surrounding the mouth portion. Each mask portion could be worn separately. The nasal portion might be made from a filter material. The portions might be made in part from filter material and in part from transparent material. The transparent material might be positioned to allow for external viewing of the wearer's lip movements. The portions could be customizable to provide an anatomical fit for each individual wearer. The portions might be shaped to form a balloon shape, which can allow for movement of a mask portion from an extended position when the wearer is exhaling to a contracted position when the wearer is inhaling.
