20230341225 · 2023-10-26 ·

A device for warning about the absence of belaying of a climber includes an enclosure intended to be fastened to a harness. A pressure sensor is designed to measure a barometric pressure. A detector, intended to be fastened to a link, is configured to detect a movement of the link within a range of positive inclines with respect to a horizontal reference plane. The detector is also configured to output a detection signal comprising a first state, indicating that the link is within the range of positive inclines, and a second state, indicating that the link is outside the range of positive inclines. A microprocessor is configured to compute a variation in the barometric pressure measured by the pressure sensor, and send a warning signal as soon as the variation in the barometric pressure exceeds a predetermined threshold and the detection signal is in the second state.

Fall-protection system with monitoring system

A fall-protection system including a harness and a fall-protection apparatus with a lifeline bearing a connector configured to be connected to the harness; and, a fall-protection monitoring system with a base unit and with at least one sensor module configured to sense a condition of the connector and to communicate a signal indicative of the condition of the connector to the base unit.

External Drum Brake Anti-Falling Device

An external drum brake anti-falling device includes a carrier having an accommodating chamber and a main shaft crossingly arranged in the accommodating chamber for supporting a rotating drum to autorotate, wherein the rotating drum has a life belt coiled thereon, a brake unit arranged at an end thereof, and a drum brake module, which includes a base, mounted in the accommodating chamber, and a passive ring, mounted on the base. The base has a through hole, axially penetratingly provided thereon, so as to define a first ring surface disposed in a concentric circle manner with the main shaft. An outer diameter of the passive ring defines a second ring surface opposite to and closely fitting to the first ring surface and concentrically defines internally toothed ratchet teeth provided thereon for sequentially generating maximum static friction force and kinetic friction force between the first ring surface and the second ring surface when the life belt drives the brake unit to be engaged with the ratchet teeth, thereby effectively buffering the rotating drum and the life belt.

ADJUSTABLE-LENGTH LANYARD, ROPING HARNESS, ROPE ASCENT DEVICE AND METHOD FOR USE

A lanyard comprises a wire-like element with two ends. A reel with a spring is provided with a rotor that is movable with respect to a stator in two directions of rotation. The wire-like element is fixed to the rotor to be wound or unwound. A clamp is fitted movable between a position where the clamp is at a distance from the textured contact area to allow rotation of the rotor and a position where the clamp is in contact with the textured contact area to prevent rotation of the rotor. The clamp is mounted movable with respect to the stator to move under the effect of its weight according to the incline of the stator with respect to the gravity vector to move the clamp between the two positions.

ASSEMBLY TO CONTROL OR GOVERN RELATIVE SPEED OF MOVEMENT BETWEEN PARTS

Described herein is an assembly and methods of use thereof for controlling or governing the relative speed of motion between the assembly parts via eddy current formation. The assembly and methods also may minimize the number of parts required and may minimize the number of moving parts thereby increasing the mechanical durability of the assembly compared to art designs that may have more moving parts and greater part complexity

Multiple Self-Retracting Lanyard, Single Brake Fall Protection Systems and Methods
20220249888 · 2022-08-11 · ·

Fall protection systems and methods for a load in an elevated position include at least two self-retracting lanyards configured to be removably coupled to the load. The at least two self-retracting lanyards are associated with a single braking system that arrests movement of the at least two self-retracting lanyards when the single braking system mechanically senses that a speed of any one of the at least two self-retracting lanyards has increased to a threshold brake speed that indicates the load is falling from the elevated position.

FALL ARREST DEVICE
20220273972 · 2022-09-01 · ·

A fall arrest device includes a braking device, a frame, and a rotating member connected to the frame. The rotating member includes a main body and a plurality of pawls which are pivotally connected to a mounting portion of the main body. Each of the pawls has an abutting portion, a pivot, and a body portion. The braking device has a plurality of abutted portions. When a rotation speed of the rotating member is greater than or equal to a predetermined rotation speed, the abutting portions abut against the abutted portions to stop a rotation of the rotating member. When the rotation speed of the rotating member is smaller than the predetermined rotation speed, the body portion of each of the pawls touches a periphery of the abutted portions and swings as an outer diameter of the abutted portions of the braking device changes.

POSTS FOR USE IN FALL PROTECTION

A post system for use in fall protection includes a connector to connect to a structure and a support in operative connection with a lifeline to maintain the lifeline at a first height above the structure. When a first threshold force is experienced on the lifeline, the support is operable to lower the lifeline to a second height which is lower than the first height. The ratio of a change in effective length of the lifeline resulting from the lowering of the lifeline to a change in height resulting from lowering of the lifeline (or the ΔL/ΔH ratio) is less than 1. The ratio of the change in effective length of the lifeline resulting from the lowering of the lifeline to the change in height resulting from lowering of the lifeline may also be less than 0.5 or less than 0.4.
