CONTROLLING VEHICLE PITCH WHILE TOWING A TRAILER
Examples of techniques for controlling vehicle pitch while the vehicle is towing a trailer are disclosed. In one example implementation according to aspects of the present disclosure, a computer-implemented method includes detecting, by a processing device, a trailer attached to a vehicle. The method further includes responsive to detecting the trailer attached to the vehicle, detecting, by the processing device, a pitch event. The method further includes when a pitch event is detected, determining, by the processing device, whether the pitch event exceeds a pitch threshold. The method further includes, responsive to determining that the pitch event exceeds the pitch threshold, adjusting, by the processing device, a vehicle pitch control device associated with the vehicle to counteract the pitch event for the vehicle and the trailer.
Systems and methods for determining a height of an object above a vehicle
In some embodiments, a range sensor is configured to detect a distance between a portion of a vehicle and an object above the portion of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the detected distance may be presented to an operator to allow the operator to control a height of an adjustable suspension in order to manually control the distance. In some embodiments, the detected distance may be used to automatically control the distance. In some embodiments, the distance may be controlled in order to allow the vehicle to couple to the object, such as a fifth wheel of the vehicle coupling to a kingpin of a trailer.
Methods and apparatus to control stability of a vehicle and trailer
Methods and apparatus to control stability of a vehicle and trailer are disclosed. An example apparatus to control stability of a vehicle and trailer includes stability monitoring circuitry to determine, based on sensor data from one or more sensors of the vehicle, whether a vehicle stability condition associated with the vehicle is satisfied, and stability control circuitry to, in response to the vehicle stability condition not being satisfied, adjust a load distribution on front wheels and rear wheels of the vehicle by adjusting a vehicle pitch.
System and Method For Adjusting A Motor Vehicle Chassis
An adjustment system and method for adjusting a chassis property of a motor vehicle wherein an understeering sensitivity of the motor vehicle is increased upon detecting that a trailer has been coupled to the motor vehicle. A detection unit operates to detect when a trailer is attached or coupled to the motor vehicle.
Autonomous Trailer Hitching Using Neural Network
One aspect of the disclosure provides a method of maneuvering a vehicle in reverse for attachment to a trailer. The method includes: determining, at a computing device in communication with the neural network, a selected trailer in proximity to the vehicle; detecting at least one user input gesture performed by a user and captured in at least one image from at least one camera on the vehicle; selected a maneuver command for the vehicle based on the detected gesture; and executing the maneuver to move the vehicle from the initial position toward a final position adjacent the trailer.
Automated Trailer Hitching Using GPS
A method of maneuvering a vehicle in reverse for attachment to a trailer including: receiving, at a user interface in communication with the neural network, an indication of a vehicle hitch ball location; receiving an indication of a selected trailer hitch receiver location; determining, a vehicle path from an initial position to a final position adjacent the trailer, the vehicle path including maneuvers configured to move the vehicle along the vehicle path from the initial position to the final position; autonomously following the vehicle path from the initial position; stopping the vehicle at an intermediate position before reaching the final position, the intermediate position being closer to the final position than the initial position; modifying the vehicle suspension to align a vehicle hitch with a trailer hitch; autonomously following the vehicle path from the intermediate position to the final position; and finally connecting the vehicle hitch with the trailer hitch.
Method for coupling a trailer to a towing vehicle, coupling control device and vehicle
A method for coupling a semi-trailer with a top plate to a truck tractor with a coupling plate includes: importing a reference height profile assigning a reference gradient to different actual values for the relative height of the chassis to the rear axle of the truck-tractor; changing the relative height such that the coupling plate approaches the top plate; continuously determining actual height values and height gradients while changing the relative height, wherein an actual height value is assigned the currently determined actual height gradient; checking a coupling criterion by comparing a currently determined actual height gradient with the reference gradient, wherein the reference gradient which in the imported reference height profile is assigned to the same actual height value as the currently determined actual height gradient is applied; and, maintaining the relative height when the currently determined actual height gradient deviates from the reference gradient.
MAP-BASED VEHICLE RIDE HEIGHT CONTROL
A ride height adjustment of a vehicle traveling along a roadway is controlled by a controller which uses data about overpass clearances and the height of the highest point on the vehicle to lower vehicle height when the height can be lowered sufficiently to avoid collision with an overpass.
