The suspension arm assembly has at least one segmented suspension arm formed by an upper arm section, a lower arm section and an intermediate arm section. The intermediate arm section is interconnected between the upper and lower arm sections by detachable end connectors. The intermediate arm section when impacted by objects in its pathway, when the vehicle is in motion and when damaged by an impact force of a strength overcoming its resistance strength, will deform or break. The intermediate arm can then be easily detached from the detachable end connectors for replacement by a further intermediate arm section and thereby permitting on site repair of the suspension arm assembly.

A snowmobile has a rear suspension assembly including front and rear suspension arms, first and second rear shock absorbers, a first sensor for sensing an angular position of the front suspension arm, a second sensor for sensing an angular position of the rear suspension arm, and a controller communicatively connected to the first and second sensors. A method of controlling the rear suspension assembly includes: sensing an angular position and/or an angular velocity of the front suspension arm; sensing an angular position and/or an angular velocity of a rear suspension arm; and determining a stroke and/or a piston velocity of the first rear shock absorber and/or the second rear shock absorber based on the angular position and the angular velocity of the front and rear suspension arms as sensed by the first and second sensors respectively.

The intermediate oil chamber and the intermediate gas chamber are partitioned by a diaphragm. The intermediate unit has a capacity adjustment mechanism including a movable portion of which the position can be changed. The capacity adjustment mechanism adjusts the capacity of the intermediate gas chamber by changing the position of the movable portion.
