Systems and methods of ceiling-only fire protection of a storage structure are provided. The system can include a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed in a grid pattern beneath a ceiling and above the storage structure. The plurality of fluid distribution devices can include a frame body, seal assembly and actuator. The system can include a fluid distribution system including network of pipes interconnecting the plurality of fluid distribution devices with a water supply. The system can include a plurality of detectors to monitor the storage structure for a fire. The system can include a controller coupled to the plurality of detectors to detect and locate the fire, and coupled to the plurality of fluid distribution devices to identify and control operation of a select number of the plurality of fluid distribution devices that define a discharge array above and about the fire.
COMBUSTIBLE ATTIC FIRE PROTECTION SCHEME
A fire suppression system in which the water supply line is fitted with repeating arrays or groups of sprinkler heads. Each array is composed of at least two side-discharge sprinklers. The side-discharge sprinklers in each array are aimed so that their coverage areas point in opposite directions. Each side-discharge sprinkler includes a lateral heat shield. The lateral heat shield has a concave heat-concentering side that focuses radiant heat toward the sprinkler's trigger, and a convex heat-scattering side that disperses radiant heat away from the trigger. In some embodiments, the array can include one or more vertical-discharge sprinklers. The vertical-discharge sprinkler may include a heat collector to facilitate early activation of its trigger. The fire suppression system is advantageous in high-challenge applications like facilities where large quantities of combustible items are stored in close proximity, such as in warehouses and attics.
Storage and charging system for hazardous products
A system for storing a hazardous product including a housing unit having an interior volume and a door coupled to the housing unit configured to provide access to the interior volume. The system includes an electrical connection configured to transmit electricity into or out of the interior volume. The system further includes a ventilation system for directing gasses and heat produced during a thermal event out of the interior volume.
Wet fire protection systems and methods for storage
Fire protection systems and methods of fire protection systems for protection of a stored commodity. The systems and methods included a plurality of fluid distribution devices disposed above the stored commodity and configured for selective identification and controlled actuation in response to a fire. The systems have a hydraulic demand defined by at least one of: i) a hydraulic design area having a minimum operational area of less than 768 square feet; or ii) less than twelve hydraulic design devices.
Enhanced shipping container apparatus having integrated fire suppression and systems using the same for detecting and responding to an environmental anomaly within the container
An enhanced shipping container apparatus that maintains packages is described having integrated fire suppression. The apparatus has a container base supporting the packages, multiple container walls coupled to the container base, and a container top coupled to each of the container walls. A fire suppression panel is integrated as part of one or more of the walls and top portion, and has a support sheet of fire resistant material; an interior exposed sheet of temperature sensitive material; a sealed boundary connecting the support sheet and interior exposed sheet on peripheral edges (where the sealed boundary, support sheet and interior exposed sheet define a holding cavity), and integrated fire suppression material in the holding cavity. The temperature sensitive material of the interior exposed sheet releases the integrated fire suppressant material from within the holding cavity when the temperature sensitive material of the interior exposed sheet is exposed to a threshold temperature.
Fire Protection System for Fire Protection for Liquid Hazardous Goods and Corresponding Method
A fire protection system for fire protection for liquid hazardous material. The system having at least one storage arrangement for storage of the liquid hazardous material in at least one storage vessel, at least one collecting area, and a first plurality of extinguishing fluid outlets, wherein the at least one storage arrangement is configured to direct the liquid hazardous material into the at least one collecting area in the event of escape of the liquid hazardous material from the at least one storage vessel, and wherein the at least one storage arrangement, the at least one collecting area and the first plurality of extinguishing fluid outlets are arranged relative to one another such that a firefighting action can be executed by a extinguishing fluid for use with a non-hazardous material in case of a fire event of the liquid hazardous material.
Object handling system and method
A system, comprising: a storage workspace including a first framework defined by a series of first uprights, the first uprights supporting a grid of two substantially perpendicular sets of rails; and a plurality of containers for storing objects, wherein the plurality of containers are arranged in stacks, each stack of containers is located underneath a grid space in the workspace; and a grid extension including a continuation of the two substantially perpendicular sets of rails, and wherein the plurality of containers can be moved by one or more load handling devices between the storage workspace and an area beneath the grid extension, wherein the area beneath the grid extension is configured for positioning a roll cage such that containers can be placed or removed from the roll cage.
INTEGRATED FIRE SUPPRESSION IN MOBILE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY ARRAY
A system includes an energy storage system (ESS), having battery pods and one or more battery cells disposed within the battery pods. The system also includes an ESS trailer, the ESS mounted on the ESS trailer. Also, the system includes a water spray subsystem. The water spray subsystem includes a plurality of sprinkler nozzles mounted within the battery pods and a first fluid connection fluidly connecting the sprinkler nozzles to a pump package. In addition, the water spray subsystem includes a second fluid connection, fluidly connecting the pump package to a water storage supply. The system includes a dry chemical spray subsystem, which has a dry chemical supply vessel, the dry chemical supply vessel mounted to the ESS trailer and a plurality of dry chemical distribution nozzles mounted within the battery pods, the dry chemical distribution nozzles fluidly connected to the dry chemical supply vessel by dry chemical distribution piping.
Fire sprinkler with actuator
A sprinkler includes a frame, a deflector member, a sealing assembly, and a releasing mechanism for a controlled actuation. The releasing mechanism includes a hook member, a strut member, a load member, a link member, and an actuator. The link member surrounds or frames the strut and hook members and holds the members in a static relationship of an unactuated configuration. A preferred link member includes a single central slot through which each of the hook member and the strut member extend. The actuator is arranged with respect to the link member to separate the hook and strut members and break the link member upon operation of the actuator.
