VEHICLE COLLISION MITIGATION APPARATUS AND METHOD
The present disclosure provides a vehicle collision mitigation apparatus and method, in which it is determined whether or not a collision will occur between a target vehicle and a lateral side of a host vehicle based on the paths of the host vehicle and the target vehicle, and if a collision is unavoidable, a traveling state, including a vehicle speed, steering, a suspension, or a position of a seat, is changed such that the impact caused by the collision is reduced. According to the present disclosure, it is possible to minimize damage due to the collision of the target vehicle with the lateral side of the host vehicle.
Vehicle
A vehicle includes a collision determination ECU determining whether a possibility of collision is present, based on a detection result of a detection sensor detecting outside of the vehicle, a motor, a boosting circuit and a battery supplying a high voltage to the motor, and an electric suspension control ECU controlling the boosting circuit and the motor, and in a case where the collision determination ECU determines that the possibility of collision is present, the electric suspension control ECU limits the supply of the high voltage to the motor.
ACTIVE SAFETY SUSPENSION SYSTEM
In some embodiments, a rapid-response active suspension system controls suspension force and position for improving vehicle safety and drivability. The system may interface with various sensors that detect safety critical vehicle states and adjust the suspension of each wheel to improve safety. Pre-crash and collision sensors may notify the active suspension controller of a collision and the stance may be adjusted to improve occupant safety during an impact while maintaining active control of the wheels. Wheel forces may also be controlled to improve the effectiveness of vehicle safety systems such as ABS and ESP in order to improve traction. Also, bi-directional information may be communicated between the active suspension system and other vehicle safety systems such that each system may respond to information provided to the other.

A system and method for accounting for a mismatch that exists between a vehicle's bumper and potential impact point using an active suspension is disclosed. The system and method determine that a mismatch exists between a vehicle's bumper and a potential impact point and actuate the suspension to account for the determined mismatch. The system and method account for the mismatch existing between a vehicle's bumper and a potential impact point using a sensor for detecting that a mismatch exists between the bumper and the potential impact point, and a suspension configured to be actuated to account for the sensed mismatch to enable improved alignment of the bumper and the potential impact point.
Driver assistance apparatus for vehicle and vehicle having the same
A driver assistance apparatus includes an object detection sensor configured to acquire data in a driving direction of a vehicle or around the vehicle. The driver assistance apparatus also includes a processor that is configured to detect an object based on the acquired data and determine, based on the acquired data, a portion of the detected object that is expected to be impacted by the vehicle. The processor is also configured to provide, based on the determined portion of the detected object that is expected to be impacted by the vehicle, a height control signal that controls a suspension of the vehicle to adjust a height of at least a portion of the vehicle.
