SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CLIMATE CONTROL OF AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE
20230278449 · 2023-09-07 ·

Systems and method for charging the battery of an electric vehicle (EV) and climatically controlling the inside cabin of the electric vehicle are described. The methods include detecting that an EV is electrically connected to a charging station and then determining the current temperature inside the EV. Climatic user preferences can be retrieved and used to determine a desired climate inside the cabin when the user returns to the vehicle. Using the desired climate inside the cabin to determine an estimated charge, where the estimated charge is sufficient to both obtain the desired climate inside the cabin by the time the users return and have the battery of the vehicle charged to an acceptable level.

Radiant heater for vehicle

A radiant heater for a vehicle may include a heat generation device which is coupled to a first surface of a steering column cover through a hinge, has one or more heat generators generating radiant heat, and can rotate with respect to the first surface of the steering column cover by the hinge so that the distance between the heat generators and a heat reception portion can be adjusted.

Vehicle microclimate system and method of controlling same

A HVAC thermal conditioning system provides a macroclimate environment. An auxiliary thermal conditioning system has multiple microclimate devices. The microclimate devices are configured to be arranged within an interior space that provides the macroclimate environment to an occupant. The microclimate devices provide a microclimate environment to the occupant different than the macroclimate environment. The microclimate devices are in close proximity to a region of the occupant. A controller calculates an occupant personal comfort based upon a thermal energy experienced by the occupant from thermal radiation sources, thermal convection sources, and thermal conduction sources, and to automatically command the microclimate devices in response to the calculated occupant personal comfort based upon occupant characteristics to achieve a desired occupant personal comfort. The automatic command is to adjust and apportion the thermal conduction sources and/or thermal radiation sources experienced by the occupant to achieve the desired occupant personal comfort.

User body temperature assistance system associated with vehicle air conditioning system

A user body temperature assistance system associated with an air conditioning device, may include air conditioning controller configured to control an operation of an air conditioning device configured for adjusting an interior air temperature of a vehicle and determine an operation stage of a temperature adjustment unit in the vehicle according to an operation-based signal of the air conditioning device; and a temperature adjustment controller, which is configured to control an operation of the temperature adjustment unit for assisting a user body temperature according to the operation stage determined by the air conditioning controller.

STEERING WHEEL STERILIZATION SYSTEM AND METHOD

Provided is a steering wheel sterilization system including a sterilizing device for sterilizing a steering wheel of a vehicle, a grip recognition unit for recognizing a position on the steering wheel gripped by a driver and/or a time for which the driver grips the steering wheel, and a controller for controlling operation of the sterilizing device on the basis of the position on the steering wheel gripped by the driver and/or the time for which the driver grips the steering wheel, recognized by the grip recognition unit.

Steering wheel preconditioning

Heating and/or cooling a vehicle interior, and in particular a steering wheel, may include receiving a heating/cooling request, automatically directing heated/cooled air from an HVAC duct through louvers adjacent to a steering wheel into a passenger compartment, and automatically rotating the steering wheel back-and-forth to change the location where the heated/cooled air is blown onto the steering wheel. This may include automatically telescoping and automatically tilting the steering wheel as well. Moreover, an infrared camera may be employed to determine where best to rotate the steering wheel for heating/cooling.

A controller communicates with the microclimate devices and calculates an occupant personal comfort based upon a thermal energy experienced by the occupant from thermal radiation sources, thermal convection sources, and thermal conduction sources, and to automatically command the microclimate devices in response to the calculated occupant personal comfort to achieve a desired occupant personal comfort. The automatic command adjusts and apportions the thermal conduction sources and/or thermal radiation sources to achieve the desired occupant personal comfort. A power management module adjusts the HVAC thermal conditioning system while adjusting and apportioning the thermal conduction sources and/or thermal radiation sources to achieve the desired occupant personal comfort.

A vehicle microclimate system includes a microclimate device that is configured to be arranged within an interior space that provides a macroclimate environment to an occupant. The microclimate device is configured to provide a microclimate environment to the occupant. The microclimate device is configured to be in close proximity to a region of the occupant having an increased thermoreceptive response compared to other occupant regions exposed to the macroclimate environment. A controller is in communication with the microclimate device. The controller is configured to determine an occupant personal comfort and automatically command the microclimate device in response to the occupant personal comfort to achieve a desired occupant personal comfort.

OPERATOR CONTROL UNIT FOR A STEERING WHEEL, AND STEERING WHEEL HAVING THE SAME

An operator control unit for a steering wheel and a steering wheel having such an operator control unit. The operating control unit having a housing which is insertable into a steering wheel spoke of the steering wheel and which has at least one housing side wall and a housing base, having an electrical contact element provided in the housing, and having at least one actuating element which is mounted movably on the housing and which acts with an electrical switching action on the contact element. In order to extend the functionality of the operator control unit but maintain the compact structural form, it is proposed that the operator control unit have a fan for a steering wheel temperature control arrangement and a flow channel which is acted on by the fan, which flow channel is formed by the housing base and has an inlet and outlet opening on the housing.
