Vehicle HVAC unit having noise suppression case

A heating, ventilation, and air condition (HVAC) unit including a casing and a door. The casing includes a body portion and a lip portion extending from the body portion. The body portion defines a first inlet opening and a second inlet opening. The door is pivotable between a first position in which ambient air is able to flow through the second inlet opening and air within an occupant cabin is restricted from flowing through the first inlet opening, and a second position in which ambient air is restricted from flowing through the second inlet opening and air within the occupant cabin is able to flow through the first inlet opening. A distance from an outward most location where the door and the lip portion contact each other to an edge of the lip portion that is further outwardly of the outward most location is between 0.1 millimeters and 5 millimeters.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR REDUCING A PRESSURE WAVE

Methods and systems for reducing a pressure wave are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a motor vehicle comprises a cabin and a receiver positioned to detect an input pressure wave within the cabin and produce an input signal. A fan with a blade having a variable pitch is positioned within the vehicle where the fan is audible within the cabin. A processor is in communication with the receiver and the fan, where the processor is configured to receive the input signal and determine an input frequency and an input phase. The processor is further configured to instruct the fan to control a pitch of the blade to produce a cancellation pressure wave with a cancellation frequency that is about the same as the input frequency and a cancellation phase that is about 180° out of phase with the input phase.

A vehicular air conditioner includes a casing, a blower fan, and a heating heat exchanger. The air passage in the casing is divided into an outside air passage and an inside air passage. The heating heat exchanger is disposed downstream of the blower fan in the casing. The blower fan is disposed to extend over a first outside air space, a second outside air space, a first inside air space, and a second inside air space in the air passage. The rotational direction of the blower fan is set so that each of the plurality of blades of the blower fan passes through the first outside air space, the first inside air space, the second inside air space, and the second outside air space in this order when the plurality of blade are rotating.
