The processing circuitry may connect to a user interface, and in response to determining the to adjust the flight path of the own ship aircraft, may output a depiction of the recommended adjusted flight path for use by the aircraft operator. The aircraft operator may determine, based on the recommendation, whether the own ship aircraft should adjust the planned flight path. In some examples, the aircraft operator may request a flight path deviation from air traffic control before changing course or altitude.

Each collection system can be located remotely from the ground station it requests D-ATIS information from. When a collection system receives D-ATIS information, it is configured to send the D-ATIS information to a central processing system. The central processing system is configured to manage a database that stores D-ATIS parameters determined from the D-ATIS information. In response to a request by a vehicle or other user to receive D-ATIS parameters for a ground station, the central processing system is configured to send the D-ATIS parameters to the vehicle or other user.

UPDATING ENHANCED FLIGHT PLAN VARIANTS

A method and system for updating a variant for a reference flight plan for an aircraft with a flight management system (FMS) has been developed. First, the reference flight plan is generated with the FMS. A clone of the reference flight plan is copied for analysis of potential changes to the reference flight plan. The clone of the reference flight plan is modified with any changes to the reference flight plan that occurred subsequent to copying the clone of the reference flight plan. The modified clone of the reference flight plan is then analyzed for incorporating potential changes to the reference flight plan.
