A flow control device includes a flow shield defining a volume and a plurality of shield openings of the flow shield arranged such that gas entering the volume must pass through at least one of the plurality of shield openings. The flow control device also includes a flow restrictor to define an opening for the gas exiting the volume.

Ultra high pressure water fire fighting system

A fire apparatus includes an engine, a fluid delivery system, and a controller. The fluid delivery system includes a first pump that provides a first fluid output at a first pressure, and a second pump positioned downstream of and coupled to the first pump in a serial arrangement. The second pump is driven by the engine. The second pump provides a second fluid output at a second pressure. During a first mode, the first fluid output is dischargeable from a low pressure discharge. During a second mode, the second fluid output is dischargeable from a first high pressure discharge and/or a second high pressure discharge, the engine operates at a first set point when the second fluid output is discharged from the first high pressure discharge, and the engine operates at a second set point when the second fluid output is discharged from the second high pressure discharge.

Fire suppression system remote monitoring

A fire suppression system has a plurality of tank units (40, 42, 44, 46) each having: a tank body having a first port and an interior for storing at least one of fire suppressant and driver gas; a discharge assembly mounted to the first port and comprising: a discharge valve (50, 52); and a first monitoring switch or sensor (230; 240). A first monitoring unit (100) is coupled to the first monitoring switch or sensor of each said tank unit and configured to communicate with a remote monitoring location. For each of the tank units there is: a second monitoring switch or sensor (260, 280, 290); and a second monitoring unit (340) coupled to said second monitoring switch or sensor and configured to communicate with the remote monitoring location.
