AUTONOMOUS DRIVING VEHICLE AND CONTROL METHOD FOR AUTONOMOUS DRIVING VEHICLE
An autonomous driving vehicle includes a user detection monitoring device and a start control device. The user detection monitoring device detects a user who got out of the autonomous driving vehicle after the autonomous driving vehicle stopped at a destination as an alighted user and monitors the alighted user. The start control device maintains a stopped state of the autonomous driving vehicle after the alighted user was detected until a start condition is satisfied and, if the start condition is satisfied, permits a start of the autonomous driving vehicle. The start condition is one of a condition indicating that the alighted user at least moves out of a movement determination area around the autonomous driving vehicle and a condition indicating that the alighted user is present in the movement determination area but remains at the same position for a certain period of time or longer.
AUTONOMOUS SAFETY FOR PEDESTRIANS
The invention is a pedestrian safety method and system that compares characteristic acoustic and motion signatures to sound and motion signatures collected in real-time through a vehicle's monitoring system to detect and confirm that the vehicle itself presents a danger to pedestrians or others in proximity to the vehicle and autonomously stops the offending vehicle by quickly initiating disabling measures.

Determining and responding to an internal status of a vehicle
Aspects of the disclosure relate to determining and responding to an internal state of a self-driving vehicle. For instance, an image of an interior of the vehicle captured by a camera mounted in the vehicle is received. The image is processed in order to identify one or more visible markers at predetermined locations within the vehicle. The internal state of the vehicle is determined based on the identified one or more visible markers. A responsive action is identified action using the determined internal state, and the vehicle is controlled in order to perform the responsive action.

VIRTUAL SOOTHING IN A TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE
Techniques and examples pertaining to virtual soothing in a transportation vehicle are described. A method for soothing a passenger in a vehicle may involve receiving monitoring data relevant to the passenger from a plurality of sensors in the vehicle. The method may also involve determining a soothing need or an emergency condition of the passenger based on the monitoring data. The method may further involve presenting a multimedia message to the passenger that addresses the soothing need or the emergency condition. The multimedia message may be specific to the passenger and relevant to the soothing need or the emergency condition. The multimedia message may exhibit characteristics that enable the passenger to perceive the multimedia message as being verbally generated by a guardian with whom the passenger is personally acquainted.
Processing method, program, processing apparatus, and detection system
A processing method for a processing apparatus is disclosed. The processing method causes a computer of the processing apparatus to perform a process. The process includes detecting a position and a sleep state of a passenger inside a vehicle on a basis of information indicating a state of space including seats of the vehicle. The information is obtained from a sensor provided inside the vehicle. The process also includes notifying an operator of the vehicle of the detected position and the detected sleep state of the passenger. Further, the process also includes transmitting, upon detecting an operation, the operation being performed by the operator of the vehicle in response to the notifying, for controlling a device near the detected position of the passenger, a control command corresponding to the operation to the device.
