ALTERNATIVE DISPLAY OPTIONS FOR VEHICLE TELLTALES

Alternative display options for vehicle telltales are disclosed. In one aspect, a fault condition in a telltale is detected, and the telltale is presented through a secondary display system in the vehicle, potentially bypassing any local control unit for the secondary display system. For example, a video telltale may be presented on an infotainment display after detection of a fault in the original telltale. By presenting the telltale in an alternate display, the operator remains informed of sensor conditions in the automobile and may take remedial action to fix the fault as well as any conditions which trigger a telltale.

User interface and method for assisting a user with the operation of an operating unit

User interface and process to support a user in the operation of a touch-sensitive control unit. A presence of a means of input, such as a finger of the user, is detected in a predefined first area relative to the control unit. In response to the detection, an acknowledgement may be produced via a predefined first audio output including a first sound sign, which is associated in a context-specific manner with a button displayed on the control unit.

VEHICLE STATE PRESENTATION SYSTEM, VEHICLE, TERMINAL DEVICE, AND VEHICLE STATE PRESENTATION METHOD

A vehicle state presentation system includes a terminal device including an ear mounting unit that is mounted on an ear of a user, and a vehicle. The vehicle includes a first communication unit that wirelessly communicates with the terminal device, and a first controller that causes the first communication unit to transmit a notification signal indicating that the vehicle detects a state of the vehicle other than a predetermined state to the terminal device, and the terminal device includes a second communication unit that wirelessly communicates with the vehicle, and a second controller that causes an output unit to perform a notification to the user based on the notification signal received by the second communication unit when the terminal device moves out of a predetermined distance range in which the vehicle is included.

Method for ascertaining vehicle characteristic variables

A method for determining vehicle characteristic variables of a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle has active dampers which can set adjusting forces at the respective wheel suspensions in order to be able to raise and/or lower the body of the motor vehicle and which can also measure the acting forces. Specific predefined adjusting forces of the active dampers are imparted in order to ascertain vehicle characteristic variables from the resulting adjustment and the resulting measured forces.
