An operation device includes a housing arranged on a center cluster located diagonally in front of a driver seat and a passenger seat of a vehicle, a left-side operation unit and a right-side operation unit arranged on a right side and a left side, respectively, of a front surface of the housing to receive an operation, a left-side operation detection unit and a right-side operation detection unit to detect an operation performed on the left-side operation unit and the right-side operation unit, respectively, a substrate on which the left-side and right-side operation detection units are arranged, and an output unit that outputs a sound in response to a received operation and is arranged on the substrate so as to be located between the left-side operation detection unit and the right-side operation detection unit at a position to equalize distances from the driver seat and the passenger seat.

A driver interface system includes a steering wheel assembly and a display. The steering wheel assembly includes a variable-function input device. The variable-function input device includes a plurality of assignable functions and a present function being one of the plurality of assignable functions. The display is configured to display an image corresponding to the present function of the variable-function input device. The driver interface system may include a plurality of display modes, and in response to a change in display mode, the driver interface system may change the present function in the plurality of assignable functions. The steering wheel assembly may also include a touchpad configured to receive a handwritten input, and the display may be configured to display an image corresponding to the handwritten input.
DETECTION AND VISUALIZATION OF SYSTEM UNCERTAINTY IN THE REPRESENTATION OF AUGMENTED IMAGE CONTENT IN HEADS-UP DISPLAYS
A method for the recognition and visual display of system uncertainty in the representation of augmented image contents in heads-up displays which provides that AR image contents are adapted through a change of representation so that the inaccuracies of representation that are present are not perceived as errors by the observer. A characteristic value is determined that quantifies the system uncertainty in the representation of the AR image contents. An adaptation of the representation takes place on the heads-up display depending on this characteristic value. Also disclosed is a device by which the method is carried out.

Aspects of the disclosure provide an automated driving system and a method for providing an indication of a driver's responsibilities in a vehicle having an automated driving system. The system includes a display device for displaying information to a driver of the vehicle, and a controller configured to display, at the display device, a driver and vehicle responsibility matrix (DVR matrix). The DVR matrix includes a first set of indicators each indicating a driving responsibility of the driver, a second set of indicators each indicating a driving responsibility of the automated driving system. In one example, the controller is configured to display the DVR matrix corresponding to an automation state.

A device for controlling an interior lighting system of a vehicle to produce ambient lighting and/or reading lighting involves the interior lighting system having an array of a plurality of light sources. The device includes a control unit, by means of which the light sources of the array can be individually controlled in order to produce the ambient lighting and/or the reading lighting, and an input unit that can be connected to the control unit. The input unit has a touch-sensitive screen for inputting a current set of control information for the control unit. The control unit controls the light sources on the basis of the current set of control information. Furthermore, the input unit, on the basis of the current set of control information, displays associated ambient lighting and/or reading lighting for an illuminable region in the vehicle interior on the screen.
