VEHICLE REAR MONITORING SYSTEM
20200086794 · 2020-03-19 · ·

A vehicle rear monitoring system includes a camera that captures an image of an area to a rear of a vehicle, and a processing unit that processes the image captured by the camera. The processing unit creates a first vehicle rear image that is displayed in a first display area that is a portion of a display area of a display device, when traveling forward, and creates a second vehicle rear image that is displayed in a second display area that is within the display area of the display device and that is an area that includes the first display area and is larger than the first display area, when traveling backward.

Vehicular control system with trailering assist function

A vehicular control system includes a camera having an exterior field of view at least rearward of the vehicle and operable to capture image data. A trailer is attached to the vehicle and image data captured by the camera includes image data captured when the vehicle is maneuvered with the trailer at an angle relative to the vehicle. The vehicular control system determines a path of the trailer responsive at least to a steering angle of the vehicle. The vehicular control system detects an object present exterior of the vehicle during maneuvering of the vehicle and the trailer and based at least in part on image processing of captured image data. The vehicular control system plans a driving path for the vehicle that avoids the detected object so that the vehicle and the trailer do not run over or contact the detected object.

Remote park-assist authentication for vehicles

Method and apparatus are disclosed for remote park-assist authentication for vehicles. An example vehicle includes an autonomy unit to control motive functions for remote parking, a communication module to receive a signal for remote parking from a mobile device, and a parking authenticator. The parking authenticator is to present an image upon receiving the signal and receive, via the communication module, an audio identification from the mobile device. Also, the parking authenticator is to authenticate the mobile device to initiate remote parking in response to determining the audio identification corresponds to the image.

IMMERSIVE DISPLAY

A method of operating an immersive display includes obtaining first images of environment in a first region in front of the immersive display, obtaining second images of environment in a second region outside the first region, which second region is not in front of the immersive display, displaying the first images of the environment on a first area of at least one display of the immersive display to provide a field of view of the environment in front of the immersive display, and displaying the second images of the environment in the second region on a second area of the at least one display to provide images outside the field of view of the environment in front of the immersive display. The first area is delineated from the second area.

HEAD UP SIDE VIEW MIRROR

A motor vehicle includes a left side view camera attached to the left lateral side of the body and having a field of view in a rearward direction. A right side view camera is attached to the right lateral side of the body and has a field of view in a rearward direction. There is a right back up camera and a left back up camera. An optics module receives resulting video signals and produces light fields such that the light fields are reflected off of windows of the motor vehicle and are then visible to a driver of the motor vehicle as virtual images.

DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEM

A driver assistance system includes an imaging device mounted to a vehicle that provides an image of a vicinity of the vehicle. A mobile device carried by a driver provides range rate information regarding a change in position of the mobile device. A processor determines that there is at least one object in the vicinity of the vehicle based on the image, determines the speed of vehicle movement based on the range rate information, determines relative movement between the vehicle and the at least one object based on at least the image, and determines a risk of collision between the vehicle and the at least one object based on the determined speed and the determined relative movement. A driver assist output provides a risk indication of the determined risk of collision to the driver.

VIDEO DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE

A video display system for a vehicle includes a video display device disposed in the vehicle so as to be viewable by a driver of the vehicle. A camera is disposed at the vehicle and having an exterior field of view and operable to capture image data. A control includes a data processor. The control, responsive at least in part to processing by the data processor of captured image data, detects an object present exterior of the vehicle that is in the field of view of the camera, and determines if the detected object constitutes a hazardous condition. Responsive to determination of the hazardous condition, the control controls the video display device to automatically display an alert to the driver of the vehicle, with the alert including display of video images of the object that are derived from captured image data or a graphic overlay on displayed video images.

A driving support method supports driving of a vehicle from outside of the vehicle using images captured by a camera installed outside of the vehicle. The driving support method includes a recognition step of recognizing a shielding area that is an area in which a vehicle is shielded by a shield within an imaging range of the camera based on the images, and a control step of controlling the behavior of the vehicle by giving a predetermined command to the vehicle when a shielding area is present on traveling path of the vehicle.

VEHICULAR DRIVER MONITORING SYSTEM

A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly and a camera disposed at the interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly behind and viewing through a prismatic mirror reflective element into the interior cabin of the vehicle. Supplemental sources of near infrared illumination are disposed at the mirror assembly that are operable to emit near infrared light to illuminate at least the driver-side front seating area within the interior cabin of the vehicle. Presence of the camera behind the prismatic mirror reflective element is not readily apparent to an occupant of the vehicle. The camera at least (a) views the driver-side front seating area of the vehicle and (b) views a passenger-side front seating area of the vehicle. The driver of the equipped vehicle is monitored via processing at the processor of image data captured by the camera.
