Spatial image cluster for vehicle

A cluster according to an embodiment of the disclosure includes a display and a spatial image panel. The display is installed in the vehicle to output predetermined information as a 2D image. The spatial image panel is configured to output a 3D image in a predetermined space in front. The spatial image panel includes a first lens array, a second lens array, and a refractive medium. The first lens array is disposed adjacent to the display and includes a plurality of first lenses arranged on the same plane. The second lens array is disposed in parallel with the first array so that the first lenses and second lenses overlap each other. The refractive medium is disposed between the first lens array and the second lens array.

Contrast characterization of multi-plane holographic HUD accounting for image artifacts

A holographic projection system includes a SLM that receives a light beam and generates a modulated beam projected at an eyebox, where: the modulated beam includes multiple versions of a test image; and the test image includes bright objects and transparent regions, which are selected dark areas of interest for measuring luminance. A control module runs a test to characterize contrast in each of multiple virtual image planes including: controlling the SLM to generate the modulated beam; measuring luminance levels of each of the versions of the test image displayed in the virtual image planes; calculating contrast ratios based on the luminance levels of each of the versions of the test image; determining whether the contrast ratios are within predetermined ranges of predetermined contrast ratios; and adjusting operation of the SLM in response to one of the contrast ratios not being within a corresponding one of the predetermined ranges.

A head-up display device displays a near virtual image and a far virtual image formed at different positions. The head-up display device includes an extension optical element, in addition to a first display surface that luminously displays a near display image and a second display surface that luminously displays a far display image. The extension optical element includes a reflective surface disposed on an optical path of light of the far display image. The extension optical element makes a far optical path distance of the far display image longer than a near optical path distance of the near display image by reflection of light by the reflective surface. The extension optical element has a transmission part that transmits light of the near display image in an area overlapping an optical path of light of the near display image.

Hybrid augmented reality head-up display for creating an edge-to-edge augmented reality view

A hybrid augmented reality head-up display system for displaying graphics upon a windscreen of a vehicle includes a windscreen having a transparent substrate including light emitting particles dispersed within, a primary graphic projection device for generating a first set of images upon the windscreen of the vehicle based on visible light, and a secondary graphic projection device for generating a second set of images upon a secondary area the windscreen of the vehicle based on an excitation light. The first set of images are displayed upon a primary area of the windscreen. The light emitting particles in the windscreen emit visible light in response to absorbing the excitation light. The first set of images displayed upon the primary area of the windscreen cooperate with the second set of images displayed upon the secondary area of the windscreen to create an edge-to-edge augmented reality view.
