A windshield for a motor vehicle with a display unit is disclosed. The windshield is realized in the form of a laminated glass pane with at least an outer pane, an inner pane and an intermediate compound foil. The display unit is arranged between the outer pane and the inner pane, wherein the display unit features a flexible printed circuit and at least one display element arranged on the flexible printed circuit, as well as a secondary coil. The secondary coil is designed for making available electrical energy, which is inductively coupled into the secondary coil, in order to supply the display unit with energy. A display device includes an image display device that includes an image display surface that emits light polarized in one direction and displays an image; and a superimposing display device that includes a transparent light guide plate that is provided overlapping the image display surface, transmits the light emitted from the image display device, and also has grooves constituting a pattern formed thereon, includes a light source that irradiates an end surface of the transparent light guide plate with light, and is switched between display and non-display of the pattern based on lighting and non-lighting of the light source. A polarization direction of the image display device and an extending direction of the grooves intersect at an angle range of 75 to 105. Accordingly, the display device can ensure proper visibility.

A vehicle display device includes a display device that emits a display light. The display device has a display, a circuit board formed of a conductive metal material and on which a light source is mounted, and a backlight case that accommodates the light source and the display. The circuit board includes a main body on which the light source is mounted and which is connected to ground, and an extension portion extending from the main body toward the display. When assembled to the backlight case, the main body is positioned so as to be exposed from the backlight case and the extension portion is positioned in contact with the display so as to connect the display to the ground via the extension portion and the main body.
