A sensor can be positioned to acquire data corresponding to an amount of energy stored in an energy storage system of the host vehicle. An anticipated operating condition for a forthcoming location of the host vehicle can be determined based on at least one operating condition provided from at least one of a plurality of vehicles that 1) has a vehicle type that is the same as a vehicle type of the host vehicle and 2) is located at a respective location that is proximate to the forthcoming location of the host vehicle. The remaining energy range can be determined based on 1) the amount of energy stored in the energy storage system and 2) the anticipated operating condition, and an output system of the host vehicle can indicate the remaining energy range for the host vehicle.

The disclosure includes a system and method for wireless data sharing between a mobile client device and a three-dimensional heads-up display unit. A system may include a three-dimensional heads-up display unit (3D HUD) installed in a vehicle. The system may include a memory storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to: establish a peer-to-peer video stream between a mobile client device and the vehicle; generate live video data for providing a video stream for causing a screen of the mobile client device to display visual content of the 3D HUD that includes substantially live images depicting what the driver of the vehicle sees when looking at the 3D HUD; and stream the live video data to the mobile client device to cause the screen of the mobile client device to display the video stream that depicts what the driver of the vehicle sees when looking at the 3D HUD.

Cognitive load driving assistant

In one embodiment, a cognitive load driving assistant increases driving safety based on cognitive loads. In operation, the cognitive load driving assistant computes a current cognitive load of a driver based on sensor data. If the current cognitive load exceeds a threshold cognitive load, then the cognitive load driving assistant modifies the driving environment to reduce the cognitive load required to perform the primary driving task and/secondary task(s), such as texting via a cellular phone. The cognitive load driving assistant may modify the driving environment indirectly via sensory feedback to the driver or directly through reducing the complexity of the primary driving task and/or secondary tasks. In particular, if the driver is exhibiting elevated cognitive loads typically associated with distracted driving, then the cognitive load driving assistant modifies the driving environment to allow the driver to devote appropriate mental resources to the primary driving task, thereby increasing driving safety.

A server device receives the definition data and the corresponding position data and generates corresponding event data of a new virtual event, wherein based on the position data a trigger region is defined that defines where in the real-world environment the virtual event shall be triggered for the users in their respective vehicle.

The method may also involve determining that a second vehicle of the community of vehicles is in a first user context which matches one of the one or more user contexts associated with the first vehicle. The method may further involve transmitting information regarding the first user context to the second vehicle. A vehicle may determine that the vehicle will be in a user context similar or identical to at least one of one or more previous user contexts, and execute one or more actions pertaining to the user context.
