WATER-ENHANCING, FIRE-SUPPRESSING HYDROGELS
The present application provides water-enhancing, fire-suppressing hydrogels that are formulated to minimize toxicity and negative environmental impact. The present application provides a composition comprising: (i) at least one thickening agent; (ii) at least one liquid medium; and, optionally, (iii) one or more suspending agents, wherein the composition consists of >75%, by weight, consumer-grade components and wherein the composition is a concentrate that can be mixed with water or an aqueous solution to form a fire-suppressing, water-enhancing hydrogel. Each of the at least one thickening agent, suspending agent and liquid medium can be non-toxic and biodegradable. Also provided are the fire-suppressing, water-enhancing hydrogel and methods of production and use thereof during fire fighting or fire prevention.
BACKPACK PERSONAL DEFENSE MATERIAL DISPENSER
A backpack material dispenser that includes a pumpless pressure tank for storing and discharging a material under pressure contained in the pressure tank and a hose and a shut off valve connected to an output opening of the pressure tank for allowing flow of the material from the pressure tank under pressure and through a nozzle communicating with a discharge end of the hose. A discharge valve communicates with the nozzle proximate the hose for allowing controlled discharge of the material from the nozzle. A backpack assembly mounts the pressure tank for being carried by a user. A charging tank contains a gas under pressure to charge the pressure tank to a predetermined pressure, and a releasable connector of the charging tank attaches to a complementary connector of the pressure tank for charging the pressure tank with the gas under pressure to the suitable pressure tank pressure.
Fire extinguishing composition
A fire extinguishing composition is described. The fire extinguishing composition comprises water in an amount of ≤75.0% by weight; a fire extinguishing salt in an amount of ≥15.0% by weight; and a film forming agent. Uses of the fire extinguishing composition and a fire extinguisher comprising the fire extinguishing composition are also described.
Non-aqueous liquid concentrate for aqueous dispersion
A non-aqueous liquid concentrate includes starch, an acrylic acid homopolymer salt, vegetable oil, and clay. The non-aqueous liquid concentrate forms an aqueous dispersion when added to water and is capable of clinging to a surface.
METHOD AND AQUEOUS COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTING WILDFIRE
The present application provides a method for preventing wildfire in a target, the method comprising providing an aqueous composition comprising fire retardant and fibrillar cellulose and applying the aqueous composition to the target. The present application also provides an aqueous composition comprising fire retardant and fibrillar cellulose, and a container comprising the aqueous composition. The present application also provides use of the aqueous composition for preventing wildfire.
FIRE SUPPRESSING PELLETS
A solid composition, which may be in the form of pellets, comprising at least two biopolymeric thickening agents, such as polysaccharides, wherein said solid composition is capable of forming hydrogels in the presence of water or an aqueous solution. The hydrogel is a water-enhancing, fire-suppressant that is useful for one or more of fire-fighting, fire-suppression, or fire-prevention and exhibits non-Newtonian fluidic, pseudoplastic or thixotropic behaviour.
