Windows including sunroofs of a car may be enabled to display cinematic video, still pictures, opaque content, or picturesque content such as the countryside to simulate various environments while driving. On the outside of the autonomous vehicle advertising content may be shown on digital displays to pedestrians, bystanders, and other vehicle, autonomous vehicle or semi-autonomous vehicle passengers. Advertising revenue may offset vehicle leasing, maintenance, fuel, and ridesharing costs. Ad networks may send local offers content for presentation on the vehicle, autonomous vehicle or semi-autonomous vehicle's windows. Passengers may order food and interact with ads on the car window. The car windows may be multi-touch enabled to allow for various gestures and interactivity with the vehicle, autonomous vehicle or semi-autonomous vehicle. Chairs in the car may be rotated to allow for better positioning of the passenger to window screens.

Vehicular human machine interfaces

A method of operating a controller of a vehicle human machine interface (HMI) is disclosed, comprising: providing first output control signals configured to cause a vehicular head up display (HUD) to present first content to a vehicle operator; and providing second output control signals configured to cause a vehicular digital cluster display (DCD) to present second content to the vehicle operator, different to the first content. The method can further comprise the receiving input control signals from a touch sensitive steering wheel, for interacting with the information presented on the HUD and/or DUD. A related apparatus, vehicular HMI and computer software, are also disclosed.

Display system and vehicular head-up display system using the same

A display system and a vehicular head-up display system using the same is disclosed. The display system includes an image generating device, a polarization reflection film, a light-transmitting substrate, a curved wave plate, a curved reflector and a transparent substrate. The image generating device emits polarized light. The curved wave plate adheres to the reflective curved surface of the curved reflector through an optical adhesive. The curved wave plate and the reflective surface have the same curvatures. The reflective curved surface faces towards the polarization reflection film. When the curved reflector reflects the polarized light sequentially passing through the polarization reflection film and the curved wave plate to the polarization reflection film through the curved wave plate, the curved wave plate converts the polarization direction of the polarized light. Finally, the polarization reflection film reflects the polarized light to the transparent substrate to generate a virtual image.

Head-up display system

A head-up display system includes an image generating apparatus configured to emit light having a first polarization and including image information; a polarization beam splitter provided on an optical path of the light having the first polarization and configured to transmit the light having the first polarization; a wave plate configured to transmit the light transmitted through the polarization beam splitter while changing a phase of the light; and a mirror configured to reflect the light sequentially transmitted through the polarization beam splitter and the wave plate back to the polarization beam splitter through the wave plate. The polarization beam splitter may reflect light having a second polarization that is different from the first polarization and obtained by transmitting the light reflected by the mirror back through the wave plate.

Member for displaying projected image and projected image display system

The present invention provides a member for displaying a projected image and a projected image display system in which a clear image can be displayed with high reflectivity and high transmittance without a double image, the member for displaying a projected image including a reflection layer, and a /2 phase difference layer, in which the reflection layer includes a cholesteric liquid crystal layer having selective reflection in a visible light range, and the projected image display system including the member for displaying a projected image, in which the /2 phase difference layer is disposed on an incidence ray side with respect to the reflection layer, and the incidence ray is p-polarized light which vibrates in a direction parallel to an incidence surface.

Vehicle luminous glazing, vehicle incorporating it

A vehicle luminous signaling glazing forming, for example, a laminated vehicle windshield includes a first exterior glazing, with first main face and second main face, a lamination interlayer made of polymeric material with an other edge face, a second interior glazing, with third main face and fourth main face, the second main face and the third main face being the internal faces of the laminated glazing. The glazing also includes a flexible carrier for the diodes including a diode zone, an emerging electrical supply zone emerging from the other edge face, divided into a plurality of track strips, carrying electrical tracks, with an individual width Wi of less than 5 cm.

METHODS AND APPARATUS TO FACILITATE NAVIGATION USING A WINDSHIELD DISPLAY

Methods and apparatus are disclosed to facilitate navigation using a windshield display. An example vehicle comprises a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, a transceiver, and a processor and memory. The GPS receiver receives location data. The transceiver receives second party information. The processor and memory are in communication with the GPS receiver and the transceiver and are configured to determine a navigation option using the location data and the second party information and to dynamically display an image of the navigation option via a display.
