A method for actively adjusting an adjustable component in a vehicle seat includes the steps of: (1) providing a seat assembly having a seat portion with first and second side bolsters disposed on opposite sides of the seat portion, first and second adjustable components and first and second sensors disposed in the first and second side bolsters, and a controller operably coupled to both the first and second adjustable components and the first and second sensors; (2) detecting a pressure value using one of the first and second sensors; (3) determining if the pressure value exceeds a threshold value; and moving an articulating support plate of the adjustable component associated with the sensor detecting the pressure value towards an extended position from a retracted position to a degree commensurate with pressure value detected.
Active seat bolster adjustment based on occupant pressure map and method
A method for adjusting an adjustable component in a seat assembly includes the steps of: (1) providing a seat assembly having an adjustable support plate and a sensor; (2) supporting a seat occupant on the seat assembly; (3) moving the support plate into contact with the seat occupant; (4) sensing a pressure value applied to the support plate using the sensor as the support plate contacts the seat occupant; and (5) retaining the support plate in a deployed position. The movement of the support plate is configured to cease when the pressure value is initially detected or when the pressure value exceeds a predetermined threshold.
Expandable seat for a vehicle
An expandable seat for a vehicle comprising a support structure movable between an expanded state and a contracted state, the support structure forming a seating region that is greater in size when the support structure is in the expanded state than when the support structure is in the contracted state, and a flexible covering movably coupled to the support structure. The support structure and the flexible covering cooperate to ensure that the flexible covering covers the seating region of the support structure when the support structure is in the expanded state and when the support structure is in the contracted state.
Adjustable Vehicle Seat
An adjustable vehicle seat includes a seat base having a seat surface and a backrest having a backrest surface. In the seat base and/or in the backrest, sensors are provided that detect forces, pressures and/or movements effected by a person sitting on the vehicle seat and consequently issue a signal. A control device is provided that detects the signals issued by the sensors and actuates actuators provided in the vehicle seat to adjust the seat base and/or backrest, or components thereof, in order to adjust the vehicle seat.

A motor vehicle including at least one individual seat is provided. The individual seat includes a seat part and a backrest. The seat part has a seat-part main shell and seat-part side shells arranged thereon on respective sides. The backrest has a backrest main shell and backrest side shells arranged thereon on respective sides. A rail system is provided, which moves the respective seat-part side shell and/or the respective backrest side shell in a desired or specified position by way of actuators.
VEHICLE SEAT
Provided is a vehicle seat capable of stably supporting buttocks of a seated occupant in an adaptive manner according to each right-to-left width of the seated occupant's body, which width is different from occupant to occupant, during a turn of a vehicle. The vehicle seat includes a seat cushion (2) having a seat surface (8) and configured to support buttocks of the seated occupant from below, and a right and left pair of side supports (9, 9) provided on right and left sides of the seat surface, which side supports bulge upward to be higher than the seat surface and allowed to laterally support the buttocks of the seated occupant from either side. Each of the right and left pair of side supports (9, 9) is movable individually in the right-to-left direction with respect to the seat surface. During a turn of the vehicle, one of the side supports on an outer side of the turn is moved inward so as to support the buttocks of the seated occupant from the outer side of the turn. When the turn of the vehicle is completed, the moved side support is returned to its original position.
SEAT INCLUDING DEPLOYABLE PLATE
A seat includes a seat back frame and a mounting plate fixed to the seat back frame. A deployable plate is movably engaged with the mounting plate and is moveable away from the seat back frame from an undeployed position to a deployed position. An actuator is coupled to the deployable plate.
Vehicle seat with an adjustable seat base and method for adjusting an adjustable seat base
A vehicle seat having a seating surface which has a front edge and a rear edge, and a backrest arranged at the rear edge and situated at an angle to the seating surface. The seating surface is divided into a main part and at least one front part. The main part and the at least one front part can be moved relative to one another by means of an adjusting device to enable a distance between the front edge and the rear edge of the seating surface to be adjusted dynamically. At least two inflatable chambers are arranged between the main part and the at least one front part, which chambers can be inflated and emptied in accordance with the distance of the front edge from the rear edge.
CONVERTIBLE SEATING AND DINETTE ARRANGEMENT
A convertible seating and dinette arrangement that includes moveable and adjustable first and second seats with each seat including a base, a seat bottom, and a backrest; and wherein each base is configured for pivotal movement to adjust between various modes.
