Suspension pedestal

A suspension pedestal may be employed with a vehicle seat (e.g. a boat seat). The suspension pedestal comprises a piston partially received within a base, and an isolator to mitigate relative movement between the base and piston. A flange extends circumferentially around the base, and is releasably fixable to the base at any point between the ends of the base.

A vehicle seat having a residual spring travel controller and an air spring, the residual spring travel controller and the air spring each having a first end that is connected to a first connecting link of the vehicle seat and each having a second end that is connected to a second connecting link of the vehicle seat, and the residual spring travel controller comprising a piston element that is connected to the first end of the residual spring travel controller and a rod element that is connected to the second end of the residual spring travel controller, it being possible to bring the piston element into contact with a valve element or a switch element by means of a rotary and/or sliding movement with respect to the rod element to adjust an amount of air of the air spring.

Dynamic motion control system using magnetorheological fluid clutch apparatuses

An active suspension system comprises at least one biasing device configured to support a body from a structure, and at least one motor. A magnetorheological (MR) fluid clutch apparatus(es) is coupled to the at least one motor to receive torque from the motor, the MR fluid clutch apparatus controllable to transmit a variable amount of torque. A mechanism is between the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus and the body to convert the torque received from the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus into a force on the body. Sensor(s) provide information indicative of a state of the body or structure. A controller receives the information indicative of the state of the body or structure and for outputting a signal to control the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus in exerting a desired force on the body to control movement of the body according to a desired movement behavior.

SUSPENSION MECHANISM

To make it possible to improve seated person's posture stability with respect to input vibration, and more improve a vibration absorption characteristic or an impact absorption characteristic caused by impact vibration as compared with conventional ones. A suspension mechanism 1 has a structure in which two suspension units 100, 200 which support a movable support part 140 and a seat support part 240 through link mechanisms 110, 120 respectively are arranged in two upper and lower stages, and a configuration such that, when the movable support part 140 and the seat support part 240 move up and down relatively in response to input vibration, the two link mechanisms 110, 210 supporting the respective parts are operated to rotate in opposite directions to each other. Therefore, a position of a hip point of a person seated on a seat supported by the seat support part 240 is displaced in an approximately vertical trajectory, which reduces forward and backward swinging and stabilizes a seating posture, resulting in good ride comfort, as compared with a case of one link mechanism.

A vehicle body structure of a four-wheeled vehicle includes a pair of side members (8) extending in a fore and aft direction along either side of the vehicle body, a plurality of cross members (41, 42, 43) extending laterally between the side members, and a floor panel (58) attached to an upper side of the cross members. One of the cross members (42) passes through an intersection point of diagonal lines of a rectangular formation of supporting points of the four wheels, and at least one of the seat mounts (72) is positioned on the one cross member.

SEAT SUSPENSION

A seat suspension includes a base including a base hook and a seat platform provided with a seat. A first link couples a first rotational axis of the base and a third rotational axis of the seat platform and is configured to be rotatable about the first rotational axis and the third rotational axis. A second link couples a second rotational axis of the base and a fourth rotational axis of the seat platform and is configured to be rotatable about the second rotational axis and the fourth rotational axis. A link hook is provided on the second link. An elastic member is latched to the base hook and the link hook and is configured to pull the link hook toward the base hook.
