CAR SEAT AND CONNECTION SYSTEM
Embodiments of a car seat include an outer protective shell, an inner seat, a suspension system connecting and permitting relative movement between the inner seat and the outer protective shell. The suspension system may include a plurality of plastically deformable suspension elements. Also, embodiments of a car seat system include a frame constructed to couple to a vehicle seat. The frame and/or the car seat may have a plastically deformable energy absorbing element extending outwardly to absorb energy, such as from a side impact. The frame may include tubular members filled with reinforcing material. The frame may have a connection arrangement with the car seat to restrict connection of the car seat so that it can only be installed in predefined orientations relative to the frame. The car seat may have a harness that includes a bolster panel or straps to limit movement of an occupant in the car seat.
Support assembly
A support assembly includes a support member, a side member, and a resilient member. The support member may be configured to engage a track. The resilient member may be connected to the support member, and/or the support member may be connected to the side member. The resilient member may be configured to compensate for different orientations of the side member. The resilient member may be configured to maintain a position of the side member relative to the track. The resilient member may be configured to compensate for different lateral positions of the side member relative to the track. The resilient member may be connected to a lateral side of the support member. The resilient member may be disposed proximate a first end of the support member, and/or a second resilient member may be disposed proximate a second end of the support member.
VEHICLE SEAT
In the vehicle seat, rear suspension members are provided at two positions spaced away from each other in a lateral direction on an edge of a seat cushion near a seatback, and support the seat cushion while the seat cushion is suspended from a seat cushion support frame so that the seat cushion is movable in the lateral direction. A front suspension member is provided at one position or two positions spaced away from each other in the lateral direction on ahead of the rear suspension members, and supports the seat cushion while the seat cushion is suspended from the seat cushion support frame so that the seat cushion is movable in the lateral direction.
ARTICULATING FLEXMAT SEAT SUSPENSION
A vehicle seating assembly includes a frame and an articulating flexmat assembly operably coupled with the frame. The articulating flexmat assembly includes an upper flexmat extending from a first side of the frame to a second side of the frame and a lower flexmat extending from the first side of the frame to the second side of the frame. The upper flexmat includes an upper static portion and an upper dynamic portion disposed above the upper static portion and adjustable by upper linear actuators that draw the upper dynamic portion toward the upper static portion to arc the upper flexmat outward. The lower flexmat includes a lower static portion adjacent to the upper static portion and a lower dynamic portion disposed below the lower static portion and adjustable by lower linear actuators that draw the lower dynamic portion toward the lower static portion to arc the lower flexmat outward.
ARTICULATING FLEXMAT SEAT SUSPENSION
A vehicle seating assembly includes a seat carrier defining a central opening. A seatback is pivotally coupled to the seat carrier. A seat flexmat is disposed in the central opening and operable between flexed and unflexed conditions. The vehicle seating assembly also includes a first thigh extension that is extendable and rotatable relative to the seat carrier and a second thigh extension that is extendable and rotatable relative to the seat carrier. The first thigh extension includes a first thigh flexmat operable between flexed and unflexed conditions. The second thigh extension includes a second thigh flexmat operable between flexed and unflexed conditions.
FLUID-CONTROLLED SPRING/DAMPER SYSTEM
A vehicle is provided with a vehicle frame or sub-frame structure and at least one of a body structure and engine structure or a plurality of suspension components mounted to the vehicle frame or sub-frame structure and a plurality of fluid-controlled spring/dampers supporting the least one of a body structure and engine structure or a plurality of suspension components to the vehicle frame of sub-frame structure, the plurality of fluid-controlled spring/dampers being connected to a single central pump.
TRACK SYSTEM HAVING A ROLLING MEMBER
A support member may be configured for selective connection with and removal from track assemblies. A support member may include a body and a rolling member rotatably connected to the body to facilitate movement of the support member along a track. The rolling member may include a grooved configuration to limit movement of the support member relative to said track in a Y-direction. The rolling member may include a groove configured to engage a protrusion or ridge of said track. The rolling member may include a first portion and a second portion separated in an axial direction by the groove.

Vehicle seat
Provided is a vehicle seat for use with an occupant classification system (OCS). The seat comprises: a seat base including a seat base support, and a cushion pan mounted on the seat base support and forwardly moveable on the support to extend the seat base. The seat further comprises an intermediate layer fixed with respect to the seat base support and adapted for fastening to a component of the OCS so that when the seat base is extended by the cushion pan moving forward with respect to the seat base support, the intermediate layer does not move forward with the cushion pan but remains substantially stationary. The relationship between the various OCS components can therefore be maintained irrespective of the extension of the seat base.
