In one embodiment, a vehicle seat includes a seating portion and a seat back extending from the seating portion. The seat back defines a rear facing surface and a recessed area formed in the rear facing surface. The recessed area extends from an upper surface of the seat back toward a central portion of the seat back. The recessed area defines a void between the vehicle seat and a child seat positioned proximate to the seat back.

A vehicle seat frame serving as a frame for a vehicle seat includes a seat cushion frame forming a frame of a sitting part of the vehicle seat, a seatback frame forming a frame of a backrest part of the vehicle seat, and a waist portion supporting member coupled to a lower frame which is included in the seatback frame. The waist portion supporting member has a coupling region extending in the seat width direction, the coupling region being coupled to the lower frame, and a waist portion supporting region extending from the coupling region toward the seat cushion frame and supporting a waist portion of an occupant. The waist portion supporting region is longer in the seat width direction than the coupling region.

A vehicle seat is provided which includes a protruding corner formed by joining a first surface and a second surface. The protruding corner includes a pad, a surface cover covering a surface of the pad, and a contour defining plate that is provided on a back side of the surface cover at a position corresponding to the second surface of the protruding corner, the contour defining plate defining the contour of the protruding corner. The contour defining plate has a first edge arranged along a top portion of the protruding corner and a second edge different from the first edge, the contour defining plate not being fixed to the surface cover at the first edge, but fixed to the surface cover at the second edge.
