A seat back structure includes a seat back panel, a cushion member disposed on a seating surface side of the seat back panel, and an intermediate member inserted into a space between the panel and the cushion member. The panel is comprised of a metal plate member and formed with an embossed portion protruding at the seating surface side, and a bead portion protruding at an opposite side from the embossed portion at a position surrounding the embossed portion. The intermediate member has a lower specific gravity than the cushion member and a higher hardness than the cushion member. The intermediate member is formed with a contacting portion contacting the embossed portion and a concaved portion denting toward the cushion member at a position corresponding to the bead portion. A space is formed between the concaved portion and the panel, at a position adjacent to the contacting portion.

Composite one-piece cushion nose

A motor vehicle seating assembly for a motor vehicle has a lower seat assembly and an upwardly extending seat back assembly is disclosed, where the lower seat assembly comprises a lower seat frame base having a pair of longitudinally extending mounting rails, a pair of side frame members operably connected with the mounting rails, and a transverse cross tube operatively connected with and extending between a forward portion of the pair of side frame members. A lower seat cushion and suspension module is attached to the lower seat frame base. The lower seat cushion and suspension module further comprises a one-piece composite pan having a forward edge, a suspension system mounted to and supported by the one-piece composite pan, and a one-piece composite nose having a rearward edge pivotally attached proximate the forward edge of the composite pan and a forward facing engagement member pivotally and operably connected with the transverse cross tube.

VEHICLE SEAT AND HEADREST WITH DYNAMIC IMPACT ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A vehicle seat includes a seatback with a back panel having a plurality of score lines defining a deflectable upper portion of the back panel. A headrest includes a housing with front and rear covers. The rear cover includes a plurality of score lines defining a deflectable lower portion of the rear cover. A trim ring is coupled between the deflectable upper portion of the seatback and the deflectable lower portion of the rear cover by one or more reinforcement brackets in assembly. The trim ring includes a plurality of notches disposed along a perimeter portion thereof. The notches of the trim ring cooperate to define deflection points of the trim ring along the perimeter thereof. The score lines and the notches of the vehicle seat provide for a dynamic impact energy management system for the seat at a head restraint thereof.
