A pair of contact target plates are each welded to one of the pair of tubes, spaced apart from and aligned with one of the pair of limit bracket contact portions so that the deformable member deforms under a rear vehicle impact until the contact target plates contact the contact portions of the limit brackets.

A vehicle seat assembly is provided with a seat back frame with an upper crossbar. A deformable member is welded to the seat back frame. A pair of tubes is welded to the deformable member. A pair of head restraint posts are each received in one of the pair of tubes to support a head restraint. A pair of spaced apart limit bracket bases is welded to the upper crossbar and extend away from the seat back frame to support a pair of limit bracket contact portions. A pair of contact target plates are each welded to one of the pair of tubes, spaced apart from and aligned with one of the pair of limit bracket contact portions so that the deformable member deforms under a rear vehicle impact until the contact target plates contact the contact portions of the limit brackets.

A headrest assembly includes a headrest bun having an interior portion. A support armature includes a portion thereof disposed within the interior portion of the headrest bun. A support member includes a lattice matrix comprised of a plurality of interconnected links. The support member is supported within the interior portion of the headrest bun by the support armature. A receptacle is operably coupled to the lattice matrix of the support member within the interior portion of the headrest bun and includes an interior cavity. A weighted insert is removeably received within the interior cavity of the receptacle.

A headrest assembly includes a headrest bun having an interior portion. A support armature includes a portion thereof disposed within the interior portion of the headrest bun. A support member includes a lattice matrix comprised of a plurality of interconnected links. The support member is supported within the interior portion of the headrest bun by the support armature. The present invention provides a headrest that is low-cost but still provides impact mitigation performance, and a vehicle seat having this headrest. A headrest of a vehicle seat includes: a headrest frame that is formed of at least one plate material and is fixed to a seatback frame of the vehicle seat; a pad that covers the headrest frame; and a skin that covers the pad. A contact section is provided at the lower part of the headrest frame, said lower part being located on the seatback-frame side, and the contact section is located closer to the rear surface of the headrest than the upper part of the headrest frame is, said upper part being located on the opposite side to the seatback-frame side.
