LOW FIBER YELLOW CANOLA SEEDS COMPRISING HIGH OLEIC, LOW LINOLENIC OIL
The subject invention provides low fiber, yellow-seeded canola, and related canola meal and animal feed. Oil produced from this seed has at least 68% oleic acid and no more than 3% linolenic acid, relative to the total fatty acids in the oil. Specific canola lines exhibiting these characteristics are also provided. Canola seed offering the combined advantages of excellent oil together with high-quality meal has not heretofore been provided.
Canola inbred G00104FC
A novel canola variety designated G00104FC and seed, plants and plant parts thereof. Methods for producing a canola plant that comprise crossing canola variety G00104FC with another canola plant. Methods for producing a canola plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into G00104FC through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the canola seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid canola seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the canola variety G00104FC or a locus conversion of G00104FC with another canola variety.
Red radish cultivar SXT majestic red
The invention relates to the red radish cultivar designated SXT MAJESTIC RED. Provided by the invention are the seeds, plants, and derivatives of the red radish cultivar SXT MAJESTIC RED. Also provided by the invention are tissue cultures of the red radish cultivar SXT MAJESTIC RED and the plants regenerated therefrom. Still further provided by the invention are methods for producing red radish plants by crossing the red radish cultivar SXT MAJESTIC RED with itself or another red radish cultivar and plants produced by such methods.
Plants having increased oil quality
This document provides oilseed plants (e.g., pennycress plants) having increased levels of one or more saturated fatty acids, increased levels of one or more polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), altered (e.g., increased or decreased) levels of oleic acid, and/or altered (e.g., increased or decreased) levels of erucic acid. For example, oilseed plants having reduced polypeptide levels and/or reduced polypeptide activity of one or more polypeptides involved in triglyceride synthesis (e.g., diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 1 (TAG1) can have increased levels of stearic acid, increased levels of one or more PUFAs, altered levels of oleic acid, and/or altered levels of erucic acid. Also provided herein are methods and materials for making and using oilseed plants having increased levels of one or more saturated fatty acids, increased levels of one or more PUFAs, altered levels of oleic acid, and/or altered levels of erucic acid.
