Vehicle interior component
A vehicle interior component is disclosed. The component may comprise a base comprising an opening and first and second layers extending through the opening. The first and second layers may form a structure extending through the opening to an extended position. The first layer may engage the second layer to form the structure. The first layer may separate from the second layer when retracted into the base. The structure may comprise a protrusion formed by the first layer with the second layer to move from a retracted position to the extended position. The protrusion may extend beyond the base by a first distance when the protrusion is retracted and by a second distance greater than the first when the protrusion is extended. The second layer may comprise a bottom; the first layer may comprise a top to couple to the bottom to form the structure as the structure extends.
Door cladding for a motor vehicle
A door cladding for a motor vehicle has a base body, a door handle (100), a cover (101) and at least one securing component (102). The door handle (100) is fastened on the base body, and the cover (101) at least partially encases the door handle (100). The securing component (102) is fastened on the base body and is formed in one part and/or integrally with the cover (101).
AUTOMATED ASSIST HANDLE FOR AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLE
Techniques and examples pertaining to an assist handle implementable to an automotive vehicle are described. The assist handle is automatically deployed to provide ingress or egress assist to a passenger to enter or exit the automotive vehicle. Furthermore, the assist handle is automatically retracted when not in use. The deployment and the retraction of the assist handle is controlled by an electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle, through an actuator and a transmission mechanism, in response to a command sent from a body control module (BCM) of the vehicle, the command regarding an operation of a door of the vehicle. When retracted, the assist handle may be invisible to the passenger. The automotive vehicle may be an autonomous ride-sharing vehicle.
Vehicle body structure
A vehicle body structure having a cargo structure, a retractable step and a handle assembly. The cargo structure has a floor, a first side wall and a tailgate. The retractable step is installed to the cargo structure beneath the floor and the first side wall and adjacent to the tailgate. The handle assembly has a base and a grip handle extending from the base. The base is attached to an upright surface of the first side wall. The base is shaped and contoured such that the grip handle is positioned adjacent to and spaced apart from an upper surface of the first side wall within the cargo area above the floor and above the step. An individual using the step to enter the cargo area grabs the grip handle for assistance in stepping up into the cargo area.
VEHICLE BODY STRUCTURE
A cargo area structure has a retractable step installed to the cargo area structure beneath a floor and a first side wall thereof. A handle assembly has a base and a grip handle supported to the base. The base is attached to an upright surface of the first side wall. The base also has a position locking mechanism configured such that in response to manual operation of the position locking mechanism, the grip handle is movable from a stowed orientation and an in-use orientation such that in the in-use orientation the grip handle is positioned such that an individual using the step to enter the cargo area grabs the grip handle for assistance in stepping up into the cargo area.
Fixation system and method that detects proper attachment
Methods and apparatus are provided for attaching a first device to a second device. The method includes providing an attachment structure for attaching the first device to the second device that includes a fastener that is movable from a first position to a second position within the attachment structure, moving the first device into position to be attached to the second device with the fastener in the first position, obscuring an attachment detection window with a window barrier fixed to the fastener, securing the first device to the second device by sliding the fastener from the first position to the second position, locking the fastener in the second position, revealing the attachment detection window when the fastener is locked in the second position, and reading the attachment detection window to detect that the first device has been properly attached to the second device.
Assist grip handle
Provided is an assist grip handle storing an escape hammer. The handle is to be attached to an interior space of a vehicle, and includes a bar-shaped grip portion; a curved portion continuous with at least one end of the grip portion; and an attachment portion continuous with the curved portion and attached to an interior member of the vehicle. Since provided inside the grip portion is a storage portion continuous with an opening section formed at the curved portion side, and an escape hammer is stored in the storage portion, the hammer can be stored in the handle in a compact manner. Since there are provided a biasing member biasing the hammer toward the opening section side; a regulation portion for regulating the hammer; and a push button for releasing the restriction by the regulation portion, the hammer can be easily installed in and removed from the handle.
Folding vehicle tailgate assembly
A vehicle tailgate assembly primarily for pick-up trucks comprises a frame with a transverse base and support arms extending perpendicularly therefrom adjacent distal ends of the base. A tailgate door is rotationally mounted to the frame between the support arms. The door comprises a transverse upper section rotationally joined to a transverse lower section at a rotational joint, preferably a hinge. A releasable locking mechanism is located adjacent the rotational joint to releasably hold the upper section in relation to the lower section at selected orientations. An additional locking mechanism may selectively hold the lower section and/or the upper section to the support arms. The tailgate may also be provided with an extendible tailgate which may be rotated interiorly and exteriorly of the plane of the upper section. An extendible handle may also be provided to support user entry and exit from a cargo hold of the truck.
ADAPTER FOR A GRAB HANDLE IN THE INTERIOR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
An adapter for a grab handle in the interior of a motor vehicle, having an attachment portion for attaching the adapter to a vehicle body frame and having a retaining portion, which in the mounted state of the adapter, extends starting from the attachment portion in the direction of the vehicle interior and has a region to which a grab handle can be attached, is characterized in that the retaining portion between the attachment portion and the region to which a grab handle can be attached has a plastic formation or a plurality of plastic formations, so that with the forming of a first predetermined buckling line, a bending strength of the retaining portion in a first direction, in which the adapter is typically stressed in an accident situation, is reduced relative to a bending strength in a second direction opposite the first direction.
VEHICLE ENTRY-EXIT ASSIST DEVICE
A vehicle entry-exit assist device includes a support column that is provided along a vehicle vertical direction at a vehicle inner side of an a vehicle front side end portion or a vehicle rear side end portion of a door opening provided at a side section of a vehicle so as to place the vehicle inner side and a vehicle outer side in communication with each other, a handrail that is provided to the support column, that is capable of pivoting toward the vehicle outer side and a vehicle upper side about an axis along a vehicle front-rear direction in a case in which a door provided at the door opening is open, and that is stowed along the support column in a case in which the door is closed, and a pivot mechanism that is provided at the support column and that is configured to pivot the handrail.
