Systems and methods for securing cargo using inflatable panels
System, methods, and other embodiments described herein relate to securing cargo in a cargo area of a vehicle using inflatable panels. In one embodiment, a method includes acquiring sensor data about a cargo area of a vehicle from at least one sensor, identifying a presence and a location of an item in the cargo area according to the sensor data, and inflating an inflatable panel to secure the item in the cargo area.
Detachable Tie Down
A novel securing device includes a frame having an anchor, a tether coupled to the anchor, and an attachment device coupled to the frame. The attachment device is configured to facilitate selective attachment to a planar surface. In a particular embodiment, the attachment device is a magnetic attachment device. Optionally, the magnetic attachment device is encased between the frame and a cover that prevents scratching of the planar surface to which the device is secured. In another particular embodiment, the attachment device is a suction cup. The magnetic attachment device and the suction cup may be interchangeable.
Inflatable Cargo Stabilization System
An automated (i.e., autonomous) airbag-based cargo restraint system for securing cargo within a trailer during transport. The system includes a plurality of support frames mounted along the trailer walls, each support frame is configured to house or support one or more inflatable airbags. The airbags are formed from durable, tear-resistant material and are adapted to expand multi-directionally to conform to and support cargo of various shapes and sizes. A pressurized air supply system comprising a main air line and a plurality of branch air lines delivers air to each airbag via dedicated hose ports. A built-in inflation source regulates air flow to inflate and maintain the airbags in position. The support frames include load-distributing cross-member structures and channels for lateral repositioning along the trailer interior.
