The optical device comprises: a plurality of light sources, each one adapted to emit a light beam in a predetermined direction; a supporting element whereon the light sources are mechanically and electrically connected; and at least one optical module, which is adapted to be crossed by a light beam to emit light presenting a three-dimensional optical effect. The plurality of light sources include a plurality of micro-LEDs. The optical module include at least one layer of diffractive material. The optical module is arranged substantially parallel to the supporting element whereon the micro-LEDs lie. The optical module is arranged substantially perpendicular to the light beams emitted by the micro-LEDs.

When the illumination source is electrically powered, light emitted by the illumination source passes at least partially along the length dimension of the handle portion. With the exterior door handle assembly mounted at a door handle region of a vehicle door and when the illumination source is electrically powered, light that passes at least partially along the length dimension of the handle portion is viewable by a person viewing the handle portion of the exterior door handle assembly. When the illumination source is not electrically powered, the illumination source is covert to the person viewing the handle portion of the exterior door handle assembly.

A vehicular exterior door handle assembly includes a handle portion, a light transmitting cover element disposed at least partially along a length dimension of the handle portion, and an illumination module having an illumination source. When the illumination source is electrically powered, light emitted by the illumination source passes at least partially along the length dimension of the handle portion. With the exterior door handle assembly mounted at a door handle region of a vehicle door and when the illumination source is electrically powered, light that passes at least partially along the length dimension of the handle portion is viewable by a person viewing the handle portion of the exterior door handle assembly. When the illumination source is not electrically powered, the illumination source is covert to the person viewing the handle portion of the exterior door handle assembly.

A vehicular exterior door handle assembly includes a base portion configured to mount at an exterior door handle region of a vehicular door of a vehicle, a handle portion, and a sensing module that includes at least one light emitter and at least one light sensor. With the base portion of the vehicular exterior door handle assembly mounted at the exterior door handle region of the vehicular door, the light emitter, when energized, emits light. With the base portion mounted at the exterior door handle region of the vehicular door, and with the light emitter energized, the light sensor senses light emitted by the light emitter. Responsive to light sensed by the light sensor with the light emitter energized being below a threshold level, the sensing module determines a presence of a person's hand at the handle portion.

A lighting device for a vehicle includes a map lamp, left and right rear seat reading lamps, left and right trunk lightings, left and right rear gate lightings, and left and right rear pillar lightings. The map lamp, the left rear seat reading lamp, the left trunk lighting, the left rear gate lighting, and the left rear pillar lighting are disposed along a left connecting line. In addition, the map lamp, the right rear seat reading lamp, the right trunk lighting, the right rear gate lighting, and the right rear pillar lighting are disposed along a right connecting line. A roof handle for a vehicle has two bearing elements which can be fixed to a roof of a vehicle and on which a handle body is mounted so as to be pivotable between a raised position and a lowered holding position. A line for the power supply is provided on at least one bearing element, which line, in a raised position of the handle body, is connected via contacts to an illuminating means on the handle body. Light can be irradiated via the illuminating means into an optical waveguide. This makes the handle body more visible in poor lighting conditions.

A vehicle cabin lighting system includes: a lighting device that is provided inside a vehicle cabin and that is configured to move a position of light; and a control section that is configured to determine whether or not an occupant sitting on a vehicle seat has an interest in interacting with another occupant inside the vehicle cabin based on operation of an operation section by the occupant or based on a state of the occupant sitting on the vehicle seat, and to control the lighting device so as to move the position of the light in order to direct a gaze direction of the occupant toward a vehicle width direction outer side in a case in which no interest in interacting has been determined.
