Steering wheel
A steering wheel is provided. A steering wheel of a vehicle capable of autonomous driving includes a grip unit having a rim shape and held by a driver to steer the vehicle, an illumination unit provided in each of a left portion and a right portion of the grip unit in a circumferential direction of the grip unit, and a control unit configured to control the illumination unit to light up in a hold induction pattern for inducing holding by the driver according to a situation of the vehicle and a vehicle state pattern for guiding the driver through a state of the vehicle.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING A CENTER INDICATOR FOR A TEMPORARILY DECOUPLED STEERING WHEEL
A system is provided for implementing steering wheel controls, namely a center indicator on a decouplable steering wheel that is visible to the driver. The center indication controls provide a center indicator for a temporarily decouplable steering wheel, where the center indicator is visibly generated on the steering wheel. A system includes center indicator devices that are disposed along a perimeter on a steering wheel. A controller determines a position on the steering wheel that corresponds to a center position, and selects one of the plurality of center indicator devices at the determined center position on the steering wheel. The selected center indicator device produces feedback to the driver to indicate the center position on the steering wheel. Feedback from the center indicator allows drivers to be better aware of the steering wheel's position and to make safe and/or accurate maneuvers until the steering wheel is properly recoupled.

SYSTEM FOR DETECTING SURROUNDING CONDITIONS OF MOVING BODY
This system for detecting the surrounding conditions of a moving body forcibly changes the state of at least one of a plurality of lighting devices (change from an unlit state to a lighting state or a blinking state, change in the emission color, or change in the luminance) installed inside the moving body, if an object to which attention must be paid during traveling of the moving body is detected in the surroundings of the moving body.

Externally illuminated steering wheel for vehicle mode indication
A system for indicating an operating mode of a motor vehicle having a vehicle interior and an operator seat arranged therein includes a rotatable steering wheel arranged inside the vehicle interior relative to the operator seat. The steering wheel includes a front side facing the operator seat and an opposing back side. The system additionally includes a light source configured to project a beam of light onto the back side of the steering wheel. The back side of the steering wheel is configured to capture the light beam and illuminate therewith the front side of the steering wheel to thereby generate a sensory signal indicative of the operating mode to a vehicle operator positioned in the operator seat. A motor vehicle employing the system for generating a sensory signal to a vehicle operator for indicating an operating mode of the vehicle is also disclosed.

Driving system for automated driving with a steering wheel display
A driving system is operatable at least in a first automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and/or lateral control, and in a different second automated driving mode with automated longitudinal and/or lateral control. The driving system has a steering wheel display with luminous elements for illuminating the steering wheel, which can be operated in different illumination states that are distinguishable by the driver. The luminous elements may illuminate the steering wheel rim, and are typically integrated into the steering wheel rim. The driving system specifies which illumination state of the different illumination states the steering wheel display has. The driving system specifies that, during operation of the driving system in the first driving mode, the steering wheel display is illuminated in a first illumination state. During operation of the driving system in the second driving mode, the steering wheel display is illuminated in a second illumination state that can be distinguished from the first illumination state by the driver.
