Illuminated vehicle trim

A trim assembly for a vehicle is provided herein. The trim assembly includes a backing panel defining a void therethrough. A foam panel is attached to the backing panel on a first side and is attached to a cover on a second opposing side. The foam panel and the cover are light transmissive. A light source is disposed within the void and is configured to emit excitation light. A photoluminescent structure is disposed on an inner periphery of the void and the first side of the foam panel and is configured to luminesce in response to excitation by the light source. A bumper extends into the void to a position past a bottom surface of the light source.

Arrangement comprising a visible seam and a lighting apparatus, use thereof, and method for producing the arrangement

The invention relates to an arrangement comprising a visible seam, which is arranged in a sheet material part. The arrangement also includes a lighting apparatus, which is arranged beneath an underside of the sheet material part. The visible seam has an upper thread and a lower thread. The lower thread extends along the underside of the sheet material part in a direction (R). The upper thread has first thread portions along the upper side of the sheet material part and is guided, at stitch holes formed during the sewing process, through said stitch holes via second thread portions. By means of the lighting apparatus, emitted light passes into the second thread portions, into the stitch holes, and from there into the first thread portions. Some of the light propagates along the first thread portions, starting from an adjacent second thread portion, whereas another portion of the light exits from the first thread portion. In this way, the upper thread of the visible seam is illuminated.

An arrangement of a workpiece which is 3-dimensionally structured at least in partial surface regions, at least having a decoration applied above and/or below the structured workpiece surface, and at least one illumination source is described. The decoration comprises at least one coating material, wherein the amount of the coating material applied to the workpiece in a location-specific manner correlates with the height of the 3-dimensionally structured surface of the workpiece at this location, wherein the 3-dimensionally structured workpiece surface is at least partially translucent and the illumination source is arranged to couple light either laterally and/or at the rear and/or at the front into the workpiece surface. Furthermore, a method for coating 3-dimensionally surface-structured workpieces is presented.

The interior component may comprise a panel having a first side facing the passenger compartment, and a fabric having optical fibers wrapped around an edge of the panel and along at least part of the first side. The optical fibers may be coupled to the light source and configured to transmit light through the fabric. The fabric may be configured to transmit the light by total internal reflection. The fabric may be configured illuminated portions on the first side of the panel where total internal reflection is prevented to allow the light to be emitted only at the illuminated portions. The fabric may be configured with different designs, patterns or shapes corresponding to the illuminated portions.

An interior component for a vehicle is disclosed. The interior component may be configured to include portions facing the passenger compartment of the vehicle that can be illuminated by a light source providing light. The interior component may comprise a panel having a first side facing the passenger compartment, and a fabric having optical fibers wrapped around an edge of the panel and along at least part of the first side. The optical fibers may be coupled to the light source and configured to transmit light through the fabric. The fabric may be configured to transmit the light by total internal reflection. The fabric may be configured illuminated portions on the first side of the panel where total internal reflection is prevented to allow the light to be emitted only at the illuminated portions. The fabric may be configured with different designs, patterns or shapes corresponding to the illuminated portions.

Vehicle trim element

A vehicle trim element that includes at least one supporting layer having an internal face and an external face, and a skin having an internal face and an external face. The internal face of the skin covers the external face of the supporting layer in at least one detection area. The supporting layer has a through-orifice extending from the internal face to the external face of the supporting layer. At least one detection element is located in the through-orifice. The detection element is in constant contact with the portion of the internal face of the skin covering the through-orifice of the supporting layer.

Vehicle trim element

A vehicle trim element that includes at least one supporting layer having an internal face and an external face, and a skin having an internal face and an external face. The internal face of the skin covers the external face of the supporting layer in at least one detection area. The supporting layer has a through-orifice extending from the internal face to the external face of the supporting layer. At least one detection element is located in the through-orifice. The detection element is in constant contact with the portion of the internal face of the skin covering the through-orifice of the supporting layer.

ILLUMINATION APPARATUS

An illumination apparatus includes a woven fabric in which optical fibers are woven as a constituent yarn and a light source. The illumination apparatus makes light delivered from the light source incident upon the end surfaces on one end side of the optical fibers and emits the light at least from the end surfaces on the other end side of the optical fibers for illumination. The other end side of the optical fibers is exposed from the woven fabric to constitute exposed parts, and the end parts of a plurality of the exposed parts on the other end side are supported by an end part support to form emitting parts which emit light from the light source. On the end part support, the end parts of the exposed parts on the other end side are individually supported such that their respective end surfaces are aligned on the same plane.

Interior side marker

A vehicle includes a seat assembly having a seatback and a seat base. A side marker is positioned on the seat base. A light assembly is configured to emit light toward the side marker. The side marker emits light to an exterior of the vehicle when the vehicle is in a doors off configuration.
