Method for activating at least one device from a transportation vehicle

A method for activating at least one device from a transportation vehicle wherein the at least one device is activated by the transportation vehicle at least as a function of global position data of at least one pedestrian and/or at least one cyclist. The position data of the at least one pedestrian and/or the at least one cyclist is transmitted to a remotely located computer unit and is made available to a computer unit of the transportation vehicle. The activation of the at least one device as a function of the position data of pedestrians and/or cyclists is made possible in a simple and economic way.

VEHICLE APPROACH NOTIFYING DEVICE AND VEHICLE APPROACH NOTIFYING METHOD

A vehicle approach notifying device for notifying the approach of a vehicle by causing a loudspeaker to output a warning sound includes: a storage that stores a predetermined threshold of sound pressure; and a controller that: (i) causes a loudspeaker disposed outside a cabin of the vehicle to output the warning sound at a first sound pressure determined in accordance with a speed of the vehicle when a sound pressure of the warning sound acquired by a microphone disposed outside the vehicle is less than or equal to the predetermined threshold; and (ii) causes the loudspeaker to output the warning sound at a sound pressure lower than the first sound pressure when the sound pressure of the warning sound acquired by the microphone exceeds the predetermined threshold.

System and method for real-time customization of presentation features of a vehicle

A controller and method for real-time customization of presentation features of a vehicle. A method includes collecting a first dataset about a knowledge level of an operator of the vehicle, wherein the first dataset is collected with respect to a feature of the vehicle; collecting, using at least one sensor, a second dataset regarding an external environment of the vehicle and a cabin of the vehicle; determining, based on the first dataset and the second dataset, a presentation feature from a plurality of presentation features associated with the feature of the vehicle; customizing the presentation feature based on at least the first dataset, wherein the customization is performed in real-time when the operator operates the vehicle; and presenting the presentation feature to the operator of the vehicle.

Systems and methods of collision detection are provided which combine the concept of collaborative support with common/existing in-vehicle imaging and proximity sensor technologies. In particular, an “intermediary” vehicle may signal one or more objects (e.g. other vehicles, pedestrians, etc.) which are within the line of sight of the intermediary vehicle (and thus its imaging and proximity sensors), but not within the line of sight of each other, to a potential collision between the two objects.

Electronically operated forward and reverse warning / sound signalling device

The invention discloses an electronic sound signaling system that generates warning sounds in the forward and reverse mode of operation of a vehicle. The signaling system incorporates an electronic circuit with a standard automotive horn or alarm device in place of mechanical contacts or circuit breakers. The electronic circuitry includes electronically powered programmable microcontroller, a horn driver circuit, voltage sensing circuit, on a printed circuit board (PCB) Assembly and one or more sensors. The sound signaling system uses the standard automotive horn device to generate warning sounds in response to one or more sensor signals. The system also performs multiple functions and is compatible to operate in different voltage ranges. The system has many advantages, including increased reliability, increased operating voltage range, reduced circuit complexity, reduced cost and reduced ambient noise.

BROADCASTING TELEMATICS DATA TO NEARBY MOBILE DEVICES, VEHICLES, AND INFRASTRUCTURE

A computer-implemented method of generating and broadcasting telematics and/or image data is provided. Telematics and/or image data may be collected, with customer permission, in real-time by a mobile device (or a Telematics App running thereon) traveling within an originating vehicle. The telematics data may include acceleration, braking, speed, heading, and location data associated with the originating vehicle. The mobile device may generate an updated telematics data broadcast including up-to-date telematics data at least every few seconds; and then broadcast the updated telematics data broadcast at least every few seconds via wireless communication to another computing device to facilitate alerting another vehicle or driver of an abnormal traffic condition or event that the originating vehicle is experiencing. An amount that an insured uses or otherwise employs the telematics data-based risk mitigation or prevention functionality may be used with usage-based insurance, or to calculate or adjust insurance premiums or discounts.

Notification device

A notification device includes: a notification-sound output portion provided in a vehicle and configured to output a notification sound toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification display portion provided in the vehicle and configured to output a notification display toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification controlling portion configured to control the notification sound of the notification-sound output portion and the notification display of the notification display portion; and a stop-state determination portion configured to determine whether the vehicle during the automatic driving enters a stop state or not. When the stop-state determination portion determines that the vehicle during the automatic driving enters the stop state, the notification controlling portion outputs a stop-time notification sound as the notification sound by the notification-sound output portion and outputs a stop-time notification display as the notification display by the notification display portion.

Refuse vehicle with spatial awareness

A refuse vehicle comprising a chassis, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, the body assembly defining a refuse compartment, one or more sensors coupled to the body and configured to provide data relating to the presence of an obstacle within an area near the refuse vehicle, a controller configured to receive the data from the one or more sensors, determine, using an obstacle detector and the data, the presence of an obstacle within the area and initiate a control action, wherein the control action includes at least one of controlling the movement of the refuse vehicle, controlling the movement of a lift assembly attached to the body assembly, or generating an alert.

Detection devices for hazard detection for automotive closures

A method of using detection devices for hazard detection when activating a physical closure member of an automobile generates a combined output signal from a first-detection device having a first-operational range and a second-detection device having a second-operational range. The combined output signal is generated for activity detected within a full-operational range, wherein the full-operational range is a mathematical union of the first-operational range and the second-operational range. A cumulative safety threshold is determined for the physical closure member using processing circuitry. Hazard-related data within the combined output signal is analyzed using processing circuitry. If the hazard-related data exceeds the cumulative safety threshold, a current state of the physical closure member is changed. If the hazard-related data does not exceed the cumulative safety threshold, a current state of the physical closure member is maintained.
