VEHICULAR LIGHTING USING PASSIVE AND/OR ACTIVE OPTICS
A reflector unit may behave as a retroreflector to reflect light of a selected color. The reflector unit may comprise a first reflector having a first color, a second reflector having a second color, and a mask that either allows incoming light to reach the first reflector and not the second reflector or allows incoming light to reach the second reflector and not the first reflector. An active light unit may emit light of a particular color in response to receiving light. In this fashion, the active light unit may simulate the operation of a reflector. The reflector unit and the active light unit may operate on a bi-directional vehicle.
Systems and methods for portable headlamp leveling device
Methods and systems for leveling a headlamp of a vehicle on a ground surface using a portable device may include determining, by a processor and a leveling software application tool of the portable device, a zero reference earth plane of the ground surface on which the vehicle is disposed, setting the zero reference earth plane as a vehicle longitudinal axis of the vehicle with respect to the ground surface, determining a current illumination axis of the headlamp based on a feedback from the headlamp received by the portable device, and generating a calibration level angle based on a comparison of the vehicle longitudinal axis and the current illumination axis.

Hub-mountable wheel-rotation detector
A hub-mountable wheel-rotation detector has an electromagnetic generator to convert rotational mechanical energy into electrical energy sufficient to recharge an internal rechargeable battery and power internal alarm and distance-tracking circuitry. The detector provides a combination of backup alarm and hubodometer functionality in a common device.
EXTERIOR ILLUMINATION SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
An illumination system for a vehicle includes an illumination device securable to the vehicle and configured to provide illumination of the exterior of the vehicle and a surrounding environment in response to a signal; at least one lighting array in communication with the illumination device configured to illuminate the exterior of the vehicle and the surrounding environment based on the signal received by the illumination device; and a lift system coupled to the illumination device and configured to enable vertical, lateral, and rotational movement of the illumination device relative to the vehicle.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VEHICULAR LIGHT FIXTURES
A lighting device is provided for controlling the photometric distribution of light emitted by two or more LEDs. The lighting device may be integrated with a control system of the vehicle and may be controlled by a remote controller. The lighting device may be capable of being operated in one or more modes of operation based on operating conditions, user input, or both. Operating conditions may include vehicle conditions, environmental conditions, and user conditions. The controller may operate a software application to enable the user to modify, control, or otherwise regulate any mode of operation or other feature of the lighting system.
Method for controlling the light distribution of vehicle headlights and vehicle
A method for controlling the light distribution of vehicle headlights using vehicle-to-X communication, as well as a vehicle having an electronic circuit that executes such a method. The method can be used to implement a variable light distribution of vehicle headlights without cameras and digital maps.
VEHICLE HEADLAMP DEVICE
A vehicle headlamp device includes a headlamp unit, a light distribution direction changer, a traveling state changer, and an arithmetic controller. The headlamp unit is configured to illuminate an area ahead of a vehicle. The light distribution direction changer is configured to change a light distribution direction of the headlamp unit. The traveling state changer is configured to change a traveling state of the vehicle. The arithmetic controller is configured to, upon detecting a backward movement of the vehicle due to an operation received by the traveling state changer, cause the light distribution direction changer to change the light distribution direction of the headlamp unit more outward in a vehicle width direction of the vehicle than in a normal traveling state.
