REARVIEW VISION SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE
20170015248 · 2017-01-19 ·

A rearview vision system for a vehicle includes a driver side rearview mirror element, a passenger side rearview mirror element, and a camera at or near the rear portion of the vehicle. The rearview mirror elements provide respective regulation required fields of view rearward and sideward of the vehicle to a driver of the vehicle. A driver side display and a passenger side display are configured to be disposed at an interior of the vehicle so as to display images representative of captured image data for viewing by the driver of the vehicle when normally operating the vehicle. The displayed images provide a desired wider sideward and rearward field of view beyond the regulation required fields of view of the mirror elements, such that the side mirror assemblies need not include a larger reflective element.

Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and image processing system

A display image is obtained by superimposing an image showing a vehicle on a captured image obtained by capturing an image on a rear side from the vehicle. For example, the image showing the vehicle is a computer graphics image. For example, a change is made in a superimposed positional relationship between the captured image and the image showing the vehicle in accordance with motion of a viewpoint of a driver. Since the display image is not only made from the captured image obtained by capturing an image on a rear side from the vehicle, but the display image is obtained by superimposing the image showing the vehicle on the captured image, it is possible to easily provide a sense of distance by motion parallax.

Optical member

An optical member includes a light guide having: an incident surface on which an external scene light is incident from a blind area; a first reflecting surface that reflects light from the incident surface; and a second reflecting surface that reflects light reflected by the first reflecting surface. The optical member further includes a prism having: an exit surface that emits light from the incident surface and light reflected by the second reflecting surface to outside; and a light shielding surface connected to the exit surface to intersect the exit surface. A light from the incident surface and a light reflected by the second reflecting surface are incident on the light shielding surface. The light shielding surface has a rough surface, and a surface roughness of the rough surface is larger than a surface roughness of the exit surface.

Optical device

An optical device includes a light guide and a light shielding portion. The light guide has: an incident surface on which an external scene light coming from a blind area is incident; a first surface including flat portions and prism portions; and a second surface opposite to the flat portions. The light shielding portion is provided on a surface of the light guide or at a position away from the light guide so as to block an outside light entering the light guide. The light shielding portion has a first light shielding portion for blocking light incident on an inclined surface and a second light shielding portion for blocking light incident on the flat portion in a predetermined direction.
