A walking training apparatus includes: a treadmill; a walking assistance apparatus configured to be mounted on a leg part of a user and assist the user's walking; a first pulling means for pulling at least one of the walking assistance apparatus and the leg part of the user upward and frontward; a second pulling means for pulling at least one of the walking assistance apparatus and the leg part of the user upward and rearward; and control means for controlling, while the treadmill is not being operated, pulling forces of the first pulling means and the second pulling means in such a way that the direction of a resultant pulling force, which is a resultant force of the pulling force of the first pulling means and the pulling force of the second pulling means, is changed rearward compared to a case in which the treadmill is being operated.

DYNAMICALLY ADAPTIVE WEIGHT LIFTING APPARATUS

A weight training apparatus includes a telescoping pivot arm comprised of a concentric arrangement of an outer tube and an inner tube and configured to pivot about an axis and receive a weight at a predetermined position. The weight training apparatus further includes an actuator attached to the telescoping pivot arm and configured to cause relative motion between the inner tube and the outer tube to change a length between the predetermined position and the axis. The weight training apparatus further includes a sensor configured to output a signal indicative of an angular position of the telescoping pivot arm about the axis and a controller programmed to operate the actuator to cause the length to change based on the signal to achieve a target resistance profile.

Apparatus for automated walking training

An apparatus for automated walking training includes a frame or treadmill having a driven treadmill belt and a pelvis attachment to support a position and weight of a user. The pelvis attachment includes a displacement unit for allowing a movement of the user's pelvis held by attachment elements transverse to and/or rotating about a perpendicular axis to the walking direction of the treadmill to provide a more natural and physiological gait during training. A weight suspension unit having a cable guided over a guide roller positioned above and attached to the pelvis attachment may include a displacement unit adapted to move the guide roller perpendicular to the diverted section of the cable to influence the transverse position of an upper body of the user as well as to prevent a pendulum effect of the trunk of his body.

Sports garment

The present invention provides a garment (1) for covering a wearer's thighs. The garment comprises a pair of front resistance elements (6) each of which, in use, extends obliquely across the front of a respective one of the wearer's thighs. It also comprises a pair of rear resistance elements (10) each of which, in use, extends obliquely across the rear of a respective one of the wearer's thighs. Each of the front and rear resistance elements extends from a respective upper position (7, 11) located proximal to the midline (8) of the garment to a respective lower position (9, 12) located distal from the midline of the garment. This provides a stabilizing effect on the wearer's hip joint.

Walking movement aid

Provided is a joint movement aid, which has a simple structure and is lightweight and which a user can easily put on and take off, and which has a novel structure capable of safely supporting a walking without impeding a user's autonomous fall-preventing movement even in a case of a disturbance such as external force on the user in a transverse direction. The walking movement aid includes a right and left pair of assisting units provided with drive sources, which exert a pulling force on flexible auxiliary force transmission parts, and a control member for controlling the respective drive sources of the assisting units corresponding to changes in a joint angle with user's hip joints.

Free weight stabilizer bar
11247094 · 2022-02-15 ·

A free weight bar stabilizer, to be used with a standard sized bar and attached barbell plates. The stabilizer includes a beam pivotally attached to a frame at a pivot point so that it is angularly movable in an arc between a raised position and a lower position, and a bar carriage attached to the beam so that it is linearly movable radially out from the pivot point between a retracted position and an extended position. The bar carriage includes spaced distal arms with attachment points for attaching the bar to support its opposing ends. The bar is thus freely movable within an envelope defined by the ranges of the simultaneous angular movement of the beam and the linear movement of the attachment points on the carriage. The free weight bar stabilizer may also include a counterweight carriage that simultaneously moves on the beam in the opposite direction of the bar carriage to counterbalance the weight of the bar carriage, so it does not add to the quantity of the weight being lifted and reduces push and pull of the bar carriage. Further, the bar stabilizer may include an assisting weight mechanism to assist when working heavy negatives, by providing a counterweight to reduce the actual weight being lifted at a predetermined point as the beam moves towards the lower position. An alternate embodiment of the bar stabilizer includes pivoted main beams that are formed by spaced parallel rails that receive the bar and counterweight carriages in the spacing between the rails. This provides a clean, uncluttered design that maximizes the open area available to the lifter in the vicinity of the bar.

EXERCISE BENCH WITH ENHANCEMENTS THAT ALLOW THE OBESE, ELDERLY, AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED TO PARTICIPATE IN EXERCISES PERFORMED ON A CONVENTIONAL EXERCISE BENCH
20170259109 · 2017-09-14 ·

An exercise bench that allows elderly, obese, and physically challenged individuals to participate in the same exercise regimens as younger, more agile athletes is provided. The exercise bench of the current invention comprises cushioned side supports that stabilize the individual during reclining and during exercise. Due to the nature of the exercises performed in the prone position, an exercise bench is generally narrow in order to allow freedom of movement for the Individual's arms. The narrow bench can provide stability challenges for elderly and obese individuals which the side support cushions address by providing the required stability without interfering with the individual's range of arm motion for exercising. The present invention also includes mechanical means to assist the user in reclining to a prone position, and returning to an upright sitting position. Many individuals who want to use a conventional exercise bench are prohibited from doing so because they lack the abdominal strength to lie down slowly from a sitting position, and return to a sitting position after exercising without assistance. The exercise bench of the current invention overcomes these obstacles.
